Weis Markets Reports Strong Growth in Second Quarter 2026 Financial Results

Weis Markets Reports Q2 2026 Results

Weis Markets, Inc. (NYSE: WMK), a prominent Mid-Atlantic food retailer, recently unveiled its financial results for the second quarter and year-to-date ending June 27, 2026. This period marks a notable performance in the company’s history, showcasing its resilience amid varying market conditions.

Financial Highlights

During the 13-week second quarter, Weis Markets recorded total revenue of $1.28 billion, which reflects a significant 4.6% increase compared to the same timeframe in 2025 when the revenue stood at $1.22 billion. This growth can be attributed to a variety of factors, including an increase in customer focus on affordability and value, as highlighted by Jonathan H. Weis, the company's Chairman, President, and CEO.

Weis stated, “Customers remain focused on affordability and value, which continues to impact how they shop our stores”. This insight has prompted the company to amplify its investment in promotions and loyalty marketing initiatives while ensuring a consistent shopping experience across its stores.

Comparable Store Sales

In terms of comparable store sales, Weis Markets saw an increase of 2.3% on a year-over-year basis for the second quarter. When examining two years stacked, this number jumps to 4.1%. These figures are especially promising coming off a period marked by changes in consumer spending habits.

The company suffered a $10.71 million impact in pharmacy revenue growth due to pricing pressures stemming from the Inflation Reduction Act. Despite this factor, Weis Markets still exhibited resilient financial performance, showcasing operational integrity and an effective response to external challenges.

Year-to-Date Results

For the 26-week year-to-date period, total revenue reached $2.53 billion, also reflecting a 4.6% rise relative to the prior year’s figure of $2.42 billion. Year-to-date comparable store sales increased 2.2% on an individual basis and saw a total increase of 3.6% on a two-year stack basis.

The company reported a net income of $50.71 million, which is a 13.1% increase from $44.83 million in 2025. This performance translates to earnings per share of $2.05, up from $1.69 for the same period last year.

Quarterly Dividend Announcement

In a move to reward shareholders for their ongoing support, the Weis Markets Board of Directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.34 per share on July 16, 2026. This will be payable to shareholders of record as of July 27, 2026, with payment scheduled for August 10, 2026.

Looking Ahead

As Weis Markets continues to navigate the retail landscape, maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction remains paramount. By leveraging targeted promotions and maintaining strong inventory levels, they aim to continue the upward momentum in sales and customer loyalty. The company’s strategic initiatives and solid community ties position them well for future growth.
