Rémy Martin's Lunar New Year Collaboration
The House of Rémy Martin recently announced a unique collaboration with the esteemed Chinese artist, Xue Song, to celebrate the arrival of the Lunar New Year. This partnership emphasizes the spirit of the Year of the Horse, a symbol of strength, speed, and tenacity in Chinese culture.
Xue Song has taken inspiration from the iconic Centaur that represents the brand and crafted a limited-edition XO gift set that embodies the energetic attributes of the horse. The artwork, titled 'The Centaur is Paving the Way', is a stunning fusion of collage and Chinese ink, envisaging the Centaur leading a herd of five horses as they gallop towards the future against a vibrant red backdrop.
This red canvas is adorned with bamboo shoots, signifying the arrival of spring, while the depiction of rivers and earth celebrates the prolific winegrowing terroir of Petite and Grande Champagne in Cognac, the heartland of Rémy Martin's production. The golden javelin held by the Centaur serves as a guiding light for these spirited stallions, aligning perfectly with the brand's motto, 'Feet on the ground, head in the stars.'
The festive design extends to the packaging of the gift set, where embossed metallics highlight Song's lively collage on the outer box. Upon sliding open the box, one is greeted with a fantasy landscape featuring clouds and bamboo. The limited-edition XO decanter, adorned with the vibrant Centaur, transforms this gift set into a collectible piece of art, guaranteed to be a cherished treasure for years to come.
In addition to the exquisite gift packaging, Rémy Martin marks the occasion with a special twist on the classic Old Fashioned cocktail, the XO 橘 (Jü) Old Fashioned. This drink blends the richness of Rémy Martin XO with mandarin liquor, incorporating the fruit's traditional association with good fortune in Lunar New Year celebrations. The ingredients include:
- - 1¾ oz Rémy Martin XO
- - 1/3 oz mandarin liquor
- - 2 dashes Peychaud's bitters
- - 1 cube brown sugar
- - Ice cube
- - Fresh mandarin wedge or dried/candied peel for garnish
To prepare the drink, muddle all the ingredients in a rocks glass, add ice, and top it off with the mandarin garnish, making it a perfect toast for the Year of the Horse.
Rémy Martin's Lunar New Year Collection will be available starting December 2, 2025, at select retailers, priced at $209.99.
