KT&G Showcases Global Presence at TFWA World 2026

KT&G, under the leadership of CEO Bang Kyung-man, took center stage at the TFWA World 2026, held in Cannes, France, from September 27 to October 1. This prestigious event, hosted by the Tax Free World Association, is recognized as the largest duty-free exhibition around the globe. Notably, this marks KT&G's fifth consecutive year of participation, showcasing the company’s commitment to reinforcing its positioning in the global tobacco industry.

A Celebration of Flagship Brands

At the exhibition, KT&G highlighted its diverse and distinctive product portfolio, featuring prominent brands such as ESSE, RAISON, and BOHEM. Among these, ESSE stood out as the world's best-selling ultra-slim cigarette, boasting global sales that exceeded KRW 1 trillion (approximately USD 700 million) in 2025. The booth was equipped with digital displays that provided insights into KT&G's extensive global business operations and noteworthy achievements, drawing attention from industry professionals and potential partners alike.

Entry and Growth in the Duty-Free Market

KT&G's journey in the duty-free market commenced in 1995 with the launch of 88 Light in China. Fast forward to today, and KT&G’s products are showcased in 179 duty-free stores across 110 airports worldwide, including major hubs in South Korea. Following the successful exhibition, KT&G is eager to expand its duty-free operations into new regions, particularly targeting Europe and Latin America.

A spokesperson from KT&G emphasized the significance of participating in TFWA World, stating, "This event has offered us a valuable platform to explore new business opportunities with international partners while enhancing the visibility of our brands. We are committed to broadening our global network and increasing the competitiveness of our brands in overseas markets."

Strategic Expansion Initiatives

In alignment with its global aspirations, KT&G plans to bolster its international presence by engaging in various duty-free and industry exhibitions throughout the year, including crucial markets such as Singapore and Germany. Notably, in August, KT&G successfully introduced five ESSE products at duty-free outlets within Istanbul Airport in Türkiye, which serves around 84 million passengers annually. This initiative is part of KT&G’s broader strategy to accelerate its growth in the global duty-free arena, reaching a wider audience of international consumers.

Future Prospects

KT&G's unwavering commitment to expanding its product offerings and enhancing its foothold in the global market positions the company as an influential player in the duty-free sector. As it continues to nurture relationships with international partners and explore new avenues of growth, KT&G is poised for substantial advancements in its global business initiatives. The industry will be watching closely as the company implements its strategic plans and capitalizes on emerging opportunities within the dynamic duty-free landscape.

In conclusion, KT&G's presence at TFWA World 2026 not only underlines its dedication to brand excellence but also reflects its ambitious vision for global expansion in the duty-free market. As the company charts its path forward, it remains focused on delivering high-quality products and fostering partnerships that will define its next chapter in the international arena.
