Sustainable Food Museum Partners with Local Restaurants
The
Sustainable Food Museum, located in the Shinbashi and Toranomon area of Tokyo, is proud to announce a new collaboration with nearby restaurants to offer catering services that highlight sustainable food. This initiative is spearheaded by
Sustainable Food Asia Inc., led by CEO Satoshi Umino, and aims to showcase innovative food options while also raising awareness about environmental responsibility in cooking.
A Nexus for Sustainable Innovation
Established as a unique venue that not only acts as an exhibition space for over 100 food and agritech startups but also functions as a café, the
Sustainable Food Museum serves to bridge the gap between consumers and businesses focused on sustainability. This facility is nestled within the heart of Tokyo, at 1-17-8 Nishi-Shinbashi, and is designed as a vibrant community hub for discussion and collaboration surrounding food-related societal challenges.
Since 2019, Sustainable Food Asia has worked closely with the Urban Renaissance Agency (UR Urban Development Corporation) and
Riverness Inc. to develop initiatives that address social issues in food production and consumption, transforming the Shenbashi and Toranomon area into a hotspot for food startups.
Catering Services and Event Space
The newly introduced catering services at the museum require prior reservation and can accommodate groups starting from ten people. Options include bento boxes and large platters, with delivery available upon request. Pricing varies based on the selection and delivery area.
In addition to catering, the museum also offers a rental space for events, accommodating up to 42 seats. This venue is ideal for meetings, seminars, or exhibitions, and allows for an immersive experience with sustainable food items, including dishes created in partnership with local restaurants. Noteworthy spots participating in the catering service include
Kujira no Ibuki, known for its whale cuisine, and
Come Back, a trendy dining bar.
The Menu Highlights
The catering menu includes dishes crafted from sustainable ingredients. For example, a workshop could serve a bento-style meal priced at around 3,000 yen per person, which includes two drinks. For corporate events, an appetizer platter might be offered at approximately 4,000 yen per person.
Engaging with Local Restaurants
This initiative is part of the committee's efforts to promote community engagement through innovative food practices. The ongoing collaboration with local eateries fosters a network where culinary creativity meets sustainability. The
TORANOMON JUST RIGHT NEW FOOD project, set for 2023 and 2024, exemplifies this partnership, featuring original menu development with local restaurants that utilize sustainable ingredients.
Educational Outreach
The
Sustainable Food Museum is also focused on educating the public about the importance of sustainable food practices. Regular events such as
Sustainable Food Night are held to facilitate networking among businesses and consumers alike, encouraging collaboration in this important field.
Future Endeavors
Looking ahead, SFA aims to deepen its commitment to fostering innovation in sustainable food practices within the Shinbashi and Toranomon communities. Their vision is not only to provide delicious, sustainable food options but to create a paradigm shift toward the future of dining that benefits both people and the planet.
