Karol Banaszkiewicz, the founder of TheChallenge.org, expressed surprise at the findings. He noted, "We expected the digital detox to be difficult, but we never imagined it would be more than twice as hard as plunging into freezing water." Banaszkiewicz emphasized that this reality underscores the underlying battle for personal attention, which he considers to be a significant yet often unrecognized health crisis of contemporary society. "The struggle isn't just in our minds; it's visceral and real," he added.

Interestingly, the participants who managed to complete the digital detox reported remarkable benefits. Approximately 90% noted an improvement in mood, 85.6% experienced a greater sense of calm throughout the day, and 82.3% highlighted reduced stress levels as a direct result of their efforts. These statistics illuminate the inherent contradiction: while people are cognizant of the advantages of cutting down on screen time, they struggle to enact these beneficial changes in their lives due to the deeply ingrained habits formed by modern technology.

The participants' feedback sheds light on the inherent challenges of implementing a digital detox. Many noted feelings of anxiety or withdrawal symptoms when attempting to limit phone use.
