BNBuilders Unveils Advanced Orthotics & Prosthetics Education Center

BNBuilders, in collaboration with AC Martin, proudly announces the completion of a state-of-the-art Orthotics & Prosthetics Maker Studio at California State University, Dominguez Hills. This facility represents a significant advancement for both the university and the surrounding Los Angeles community as it greatly improves access to essential care and services.

The building is strategically situated across from the Dignity Health Sports Park and serves as the dedicated hub for CSUDH's Orthotics & Prosthetics program. It is designed to foster an interactive learning environment where students can gain practical experience in designing, constructing, and fitting customized prosthetic limbs and orthopedic braces. These devices are crucial for helping individuals regain mobility and independence.

Facilities and Features

The new Maker Studio is thoughtfully designed to support both academic learning and practical application. It provides a variety of facilities including:
  • - A maker space and mechatronics lab where students can engage in hands-on learning experiences;
  • - Plaster and machining rooms that enable fabrication and crafting of orthotic devices;
  • - Dedicated student labs and clinical spaces for direct patient interaction and learning; and
  • - Administrative offices and resource areas that enhance connectivity between students, faculty, and support services.

This innovative facility isn't just about education; it aims to create a lasting impact on the community. For instance, during the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held in Los Angeles, the Maker Studio will act as a vital hub for prosthetic repairs and services. It will cater to athletes and visitors who depend on these devices for both mobility and performance, highlighting COU Dominguez Hills' commitment to community engagement.

A Commitment to Community and Education

Alfonso Saenz, Project Executive at BNBuilders, shared, “What makes this project special is what happens inside the building every day. It reflects our commitment to building spaces that serve people in meaningful ways. Students aren't just learning in a classroom, they're working directly with patients and creating devices that help people move, recover, and live more independently.”

The CSUDH Orthotics & Prosthetics Maker Studio stands as a testament to the power of education, collaboration, and community service, making it an invaluable addition to the university and the broader Los Angeles area.
