Follett Higher Education and University of Florida Unveil Revamped Bookstore with Enhanced Gator Experience

Grand Reopening of the UF Bookstore

The University of Florida (UF) and Follett Higher Education have proudly launched the grand reopening of the revamped UF Bookstore, marking a significant upgrade in its facilities and offerings. This celebration follows a substantial $2.5 million renovation, designed to create a modern retail atmosphere that embodies the Gator spirit for students, alumni, faculty, and fans alike.

The grand reopening, held on October 28, 2026, featured a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and was attended by a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and community members. The event showcased special merchandise, appearances by UF's cherished mascots Albert and Alberta, and a host of engaging activities throughout the bookstore.

A Center for Gator Pride

At the core of the bookstore's transformation is the introduction of a stunning 63-foot digital display wall. This centerpiece not only exhibits Gator athletics and university traditions but also engages visitors with dynamic branded content. The newly designed Nike and Jordan Brand section elevates the retail experience, presenting an extensive range of premium Gator apparel in a more inviting shopping environment.

In addition, the revamped bookstore has unveiled a new customization zone where students and fans can personalize jerseys, T-shirts, and caps, allowing them to celebrate their favorite Gator student-athletes uniquely. Notably, the partnership with Campus Ink has expanded the NIL merchandise collection, offering player-specific jerseys that help connect fans to the Gator athletes.

A new dedicated Gatorade-branded area pays homage to the iconic beverage's history related to the University. Plans are in motion to introduce more exclusive merchandise, accessories, and branded apparel in the coming months, ensuring that fans have more ways to celebrate their allegiance.

Enhanced Retail Experience

The renovations are a result of a renewed 10-year collaboration between Follett and the University of Florida, highlighting their commitment to enrich the campus experience. Brandi Renton, Vice President for Business Affairs at UF, emphasized the importance of the bookstore in creating a connected campus community, stating, “These renovations create a more welcoming, modern space for our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors.”

Emmanuel Kolady, CEO of Follett Higher Education, added, “Our longstanding relationship with the University of Florida reflects a shared commitment to delivering an exceptional campus experience and the traditions that make UF unique.” This newly redesigned bookstore aims to establish a vibrant environment where students can stumble upon vital resources while allowing alumni to nostalgically reconnect with their university.

A Vision for the Future

The transformed bookstore expresses the strong identity of the University of Florida, integrating the school's signature orange and blue colors prominently throughout its design. Updated graphics and lighting create an inviting setting, while modern fixtures and an improved layout enhance the overall shopping experience.

The September grand reopening signifies more than just a new look; it's a pivotal development in how the campus community interacts with their shared traditions and connect with their identities as Gators. Follett's role continues to focus on innovation in educational services and retail, supporting student success alongside the celebrations that resonate within the Gator tradition.

The renewed commitment shown by both Follett and the University of Florida promises a vibrant future for the bookstore, ensuring it remains a cherished cornerstone of campus life for years to come. The community's enthusiastic response during the reopening event solidifies the bookstore's role as a central hub for Gator pride and connection.
