Taste of the Draft: Culinary Delights for a Cause
On April 23, 2025, the culinary heart of Wisconsin will come alive with the first-ever
Taste of the Draft, an extraordinary event organized by GENYOUth, Schreiber Foods, and the Green Bay Packers. Set against the backdrop of the NFL Draft, this unique gathering will feature an array of dishes showcasing the beloved supper club culture, while addressing a critical issue—student food insecurity. Approximately 1 in 6 children in Wisconsin face food insecurity, making this event not only a celebration of great food but a necessary step toward ensuring that all students have access to healthy meals.
The event will take place at
Schreiber Foods headquarters, located at
400 N. Washington Street, Green Bay, Wisconsin. Running from
4 PM to 7 PM CDT, attendees will be able to indulge in a rich blend of flavors provided by
20 prominent Wisconsin supper clubs, famous for their classic dishes and warm atmospheres. Culinary heavyweights such as
Andrew Zimmern, an Emmy-winning TV personality, will host the event alongside renowned chefs
Mark Bucher and
Paul Bartolotta, both of whom have a long-standing dedication to promoting food excellence and community welfare.
Among the supper clubs showcasing their signature dishes are famous spots like
Bootleggers Lodge and
Cattails Supper Club. Guests can expect an exciting menu that includes everything from traditional relish trays and popovers to specialty meats and seafood, representing the richness of Wisconsin's culinary traditions. Guests will not only taste the best of local cuisine but also experience a variety of engaging activities, including meet-and-greets with Green Bay Packers legends like
LeRoy Butler and
Jerry Kramer.
As part of its mission,
GENYOUth aims to combat student food insecurity, funding nutrition grants to up to
90 schools, which includes the provision of meal carts and coolers to enhance access to healthy food for students. Since its inception,
GENYOUth, established by America’s dairy farmers and the NFL, has shared its vision to create sustainable solutions for children's access to nutrition and physical activity. With more than
500 schools granted resources supporting
250,000 students, the impact of their efforts is monumental.
The extraordinary commitment of sponsors like
Schreiber Foods, American Family Insurance, and other community foundations underscores the importance of this event. With food insecurity on the rise, the need for initiatives that provide healthy meals in schools has never been more urgent. "Schools are a lifeline for children experiencing food insecurity by providing essential access to healthy meals including milk, fruit, and lean proteins," emphasizes
Ann Marie Krautheim, CEO of GENYOUth.
Beyond fundraising,
Taste of the Draft encapsulates the essence of community through food and shared experiences. The event presents a platform for engaging entertainment, including musical performances and a magical sleight-of-hand artist, plus an experience of camaraderie and support among attendees. Alongside the memorable dining experience, guests will have the chance to participate in silent auctions and enjoy a curated beer garden showcasing local breweries.
This initiative resonates with the Packers’ legacy of community engagement, as well as Schreiber Foods' commitment to “Doing Good Through Food.” By blending community spirit with culinary excellence,
Taste of the Draft not only celebrates Wisconsin’s culinary traditions but also paves the way for future generations, ensuring that children can thrive both physically and mentally.
