In a delightful announcement, the 32nd Kineko International Film Festival, Asia's largest festival dedicated to children's cinema, has revealed its special screening schedule. Taking place from October 31 to November 4, 2025, in the charming neighborhood of Futako-Tamagawa, Tokyo, this year's event promises to be a visual feast for children and families alike.

On November 2, at the Setagaya Civic Hall's Eaglet Hall, the festival will showcase two blockbuster films that have captured the imagination of children worldwide: ‘Doraemon: Nobita's Picture Book World Story’ and ‘Minecraft: The Movie’. These films were selected not only for their entertainment value but also for their ability to inspire and educate young audiences.

About the festival


Established in 1992 with support from the Berlin International Film Festival’s children's film division, the Kineko International Film Festival is now celebrating its 32nd anniversary. The event aims to provide children with access to high-quality cinematic experiences, showcasing a selection of 67 films, including 51 competitive titles and 16 special screenings, across 24 different programs.

The special screenings at the Setagaya Civic Hall mark an important collaboration with the Setagaya Ward, and this year represents the first time this particular venue will host such events.

1. ‘Doraemon: Nobita's Picture Book World Story’

The latest installment in the beloved Doraemon series, this film engages audiences by taking them on a whimsical adventure. In the story, Nobita is working on a summer homework project focused on creating pictures when he discovers a torn piece of a drawing that magically transports him and his friends into the painting. Utilizing Doraemon's signature gadgets, including the “Enter Light”, they explore this new world that merges imagination and creativity.

2. ‘Minecraft: The Movie’
