KIOU Unveils Plans for Tokyo Game Show 2026

KIOU, developed by Neconome Co., Ltd., is set to make a splash at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs from September 17th to 21st at Makuhari Messe. This collaboration promises a rich array of activities that highlight the innovative experience of this competitive shogi game.

Showcase Highlights

The main attraction at the Neconome booth will be the shogi game KIOU, which began its distribution in June 2026. Visitors will not only be able to engage with the game but also to take an exclusive look at a forthcoming feature—the Story Mode. This opportunity allows fans to experience a preview of unique content created specifically for TGS, adding an exclusive flair to the game.

In addition to gameplay, there will be fascinating talks and readings featuring the voice cast of KIOU as well as events where professional shogi players will engage in matches and discussions. Cosplay displays celebrating KIOU will also be a highlight, making the booth a vibrant hub for visitors.

Booth Design

Located in Hall 1 at booth number 01-C10, the KIOU space is designed meticulously with a traditional Japanese aesthetic, featuring cherry blossoms and lanterns to bring to life the world of KIOU. The centerpiece of the booth will be a life-size recreation of the café depicted in the game, complete with tatami mats and floor cushions. Guests will have the chance to step into this immersive environment and experience live events, all while capturing their moments at designated photo spots.

To make the immersive experience even richer, the stage will showcase handmade shogi pieces crafted by the esteemed artisan Shingen, renowned for his exquisite work, elevating the treasure trove that fans will encounter.

Exclusive Events

Expect multiple stage events throughout TGS:

• - September 19th (Saturday): A special talk event featuring cast members Yuka Hiiragi (as Sakura Nekomiy), Haru Shinonome (as Yuki Himuro), and Yuki Dozaka (as the narrator). They will share behind-the-scenes stories from the game. Following the talk, they will perform a reading based on an original script that captures the everyday lives of the characters, away from the competition.

• - September 20th (Sunday): Join pro shogi players Taichi Nakamura and Miran Nohara, as well as commentator Sora, in a live discussion centered on the allure of KIOU followed by an exciting match where attendees can witness the unique dynamic of professional gameplay.

Both events are free for visitors, providing an unmissable opportunity to learn from and interact with the personalities behind KIOU and the world of shogi.

Free Giveaways

In the spirit of engaging with fans, attendees visiting the booth can receive a specially designed KIOU fan. The back of the fan features a QR code that links directly to the app store pages for downloading KIOU, available in limited quantities until stocks run out.
