Zetwerk's Successful Installation of Power Transformer in North Carolina Addresses Growing Energy Demands

Zetwerk Boosts U.S. Energy Infrastructure with New Transformer Installation

In a significant step towards enhancing energy capabilities in the United States, Zetwerk Manufacturing Businesses Ltd., alongside its U.S. subsidiary Unimacts, has successfully completed the installation of a power transformer in North Carolina. This project not only underscores Zetwerk's commitment to meeting the growing energy demands in the U.S. but also highlights its advanced manufacturing capabilities in the face of an increasingly pressing need for infrastructure improvements.

The establishment of the power transformer comes at a time when there is a notable surge in U.S. electricity consumption, particularly from data centers expanding their capabilities to support artificial intelligence and other critical technologies. As reported, Zetwerk's energy division experienced remarkable growth, achieving a revenue of ₹6,507.57 crore (approximately $800 million) in the fiscal year 2026, showcasing an impressive year-on-year increase of 86.90%.

With the completion of the transformer installation, Zetwerk is addressing a crucial gap in the supply of essential grid equipment. The traditional transformer supply chains have struggled to keep pace with the burgeoning demand, leading to significant delays. Industry estimates indicate that lead times for power transformers have been notoriously lengthy, frequently ranging from 36 to 42 months. However, Zetwerk's innovative manufacturing model, which integrates a cross-country supply chain and vertical manufacturing processes, has managed to reduce U.S. delivery lead times to a remarkable 12 to 15 months.

The decrease in lead times not only benefits utilities and developers by enabling more timely access to critical infrastructure but also supports various energy projects across the nation. Srinath Ramakkrushnan, executive director and COO of Zetwerk, emphasized, "As electricity demand surges, utilities, developers, and energy infrastructure companies require dependable access to crucial power equipment. The transformer supply concerns have delayed numerous projects; however, by optimizing our production across different nations, we aim to close this gap effectively."

Zetwerk's commitment to enhancing the efficiency of the transformer supply chain has been bolstered by its integrated manufacturing capabilities. Unimacts plays a vital role in this process by ensuring faster delivery timelines while maintaining stringent quality standards across various components, such as CRGO laminations, cores, and core and coil assemblies. This meticulous control over the manufacturing process enhances both the overall quality and reliability of the products delivered.

Notably, Zetwerk's transformer portfolio spans an extensive range, from medium-voltage pad-mounted transformers to dry-type and inverter-duty units, including power transformers rated up to 500 MVA and 765 kV. The company adheres strictly to IEEE C57 standards, making their products bankable for projects across various sectors.

With a robust international revenue stream of over ₹2,775 crore (around $340 million) in FY2026 and a strong presence within the U.S. market, Zetwerk is well-positioned to continue expanding its operations and effectiveness in bolstering the country's energy infrastructure. The company's strategy showcases a long-term commitment to not only meeting current energy demands but also supporting future advancements in technology and sustainability.

As the energy sector continues to evolve, companies like Zetwerk and Unimacts are leading the way towards establishing a more modern and efficient power grid in the U.S. Their innovative approaches to manufacturing and supply chain management serve as a model for others in the industry, illustrating the importance of collaboration and technological integration in addressing the challenges faced by today's rapidly changing energy landscape.

In conclusion, the successful installation of Zetwerk's power transformer in North Carolina is not just a mere project completion but a significant forward step in responding to rising energy demands and ensuring the resilience of the U.S. power grid. The efforts of Zetwerk to innovate and adapt within this critical industry underline the importance of robust energy infrastructure as the backbone of a modern, technologically advanced society.
