Cangzhou's Strategic Growth through Integration with Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region

Cangzhou, located in Hebei Province along the Bohai Sea, is rapidly transforming its economic landscape thanks to the coordinated development strategy with Beijing and Tianjin. Known for its rich cultural heritage, including martial arts and acrobatics, Cangzhou is now focusing on becoming a crucial hub in regional integration, effectively connecting resources from the capital and its neighbor city to expand its industrial base and enhance public services.

Since the implementation of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integration strategy, Cangzhou has successfully signed agreements for 170 projects in collaboration with partners from Beijing and Tianjin, committing a whopping 68.4 billion yuan in planned investments. This surge in collaborations particularly attracts second- and third-tier subsidiaries of centrally administered state-owned enterprises, making Cangzhou a hotspot for industrial investment. A prime example of this growth can be seen in the biomedicine sector, where the Cangzhou Biomedicine Industrial Park has become home to 70 companies, including significant projects helmed by Beijing Yimin, showcasing Cangzhou's burgeoning pharmaceutical production capabilities.

Moreover, the city's focus on enhancing its innovation capacity is strengthening its industrial network. Cangzhou has established cooperation agreements with prestigious universities and research institutions such as Tsinghua University in Beijing. It has also supported key technological platforms like the Hebei branch of the National Beidou Navigation Location Service Data Center, and Yanzhao Green Chemical Laboratory, which collectively have facilitated over 20 billion yuan in technology transactions since 2023.

The city's transport and logistics infrastructure is undergoing a significant upgrade too. Cangzhou has introduced a high-speed rail service connecting it with Shijiazhuang, while multiple railway and expressway projects are underway to support regional connectivity. Utilizing Huanghua Port further boosts logistics capabilities, linking Cangzhou with the Xiong'an New Area. Notably, a new customs and logistics model is being promoted, allowing goods to be processed in Xiong'an and exported via Huanghua Port, thus enhancing Cangzhou's logistical prowess.

In the healthcare sector, Cangzhou has made strides by creating 27 medical alliances with facilities across Beijing and Tianjin, facilitating the mutual recognition of medical test results among 57 local medical institutions. These efforts not only expand access to medical services but also enhance cooperation in labor services, particularly in elderly care, with the city welcoming over 24,700 senior citizens from Beijing and nearby provinces.

Environmental initiatives have not been neglected either. According to local authorities, Cangzhou has seen a notable reduction in its air quality indices, with a 15.14% decline in the composite index and a significant increase in days of good air quality. The city has also improved its drinking water quality, meeting high health standards for centralized sources.

Tourism has thrived as well; Cangzhou's cultural attractions have brought in approximately 57.3 million domestic tourist visits in 2025, generating 60.94 billion yuan in tourism-related earnings. The city capitalizes on its unique heritage, including the Grand Canal and its nickname 'Lion City', to attract visitors.

Looking forward, Cangzhou aims to continue its momentum in 2026 with plans to unveil at least 50 new projects in collaboration with Beijing and Tianjin, focusing primarily on sectors such as biomedicine, hydrogen energy, and low-altitude economies. By enhancing its role as an industrial, logistical, and public service connector in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Cangzhou is poised for a transformative journey ahead.
