More Than One in Three Young Women Have Tried Bold Hair Colors

Bold Hair Colors: A Trend Among Young Women

A recent survey conducted by LiIBe, a Tokyo-based company, indicates a significant trend in bold hair choices among women in their 20s and 30s. According to their study, more than one in three women in this age group have experimented with bright hair colors, a reflection of both personal style and the influence of modern pop culture.

Survey Background

The popularity of bold hair colors has soared in recent years, much attributed to the global success of anime and the rise of 2.5D content, as well as the trend of 'oshi-katsu', or supporting one’s favorite characters. Many women enjoy wearing hair colors that match those of their beloved characters, but this trend comes with unique challenges, including damage from bleaching and rapid fading of colors. To better understand these dynamics, LiIBe launched a survey targeting women aged 20-30.

Key Findings

  • - Over 34% of women aged 20-30 have dyed their hair in bold colors.
  • - The primary motivations include a love for bold styles (40.5%) and a desire to incorporate color as an accessory (40.2%).
  • - Among those who have dyed their hair, pink emerged as the most popular recent color, chosen by over 27%.
  • - A common concern among over 50% of respondents is the quick fading of hair color after dyeing.
  • - Surprisingly, more than 40% do not engage in professional maintenance at salons to sustain their vibrant hues.
  • - At-home care practices predominantly include color shampoo (35.6%) and intensive treatments (28.5%), aimed at enhancing color vibrancy and minimizing damage.

Insights into the Experience

When asked about their experiences with bold hair colors, the results reveal both exciting and daunting aspects. Majority women expressed their fondness for adventurous styles, which underpin their choices. The appeal of transforming one’s look and boosting confidence was also a significant factor.

However, the downside includes frequent worries about color longevity. Almost 51% reported challenges with colors fading quickly, while others noted that lightened hair ends could become rough and damaged, impairing their overall look and feel.

Interestingly, a considerable portion of these women are not seeking professional salon treatments for color maintenance; about 40% of respondents indicated they neither engage in salon upkeep nor rely on regular color retouches.

At-Home Care Practices

Despite the absence of salon support, many women actively pursue at-home care strategies for maintaining their vibrant locks. Products designed for color-treated hair, particularly color shampoos and treatments, have become staples in their hair care routines. Nearly 36% prioritize color-enhancing shampoos, while 25% incorporate color treatments that replenish and fortify their hair.

Conclusion

Overall, the survey unveils that a large segment of young women enjoys experimenting with bold hair colors, primarily for reasons related to personal style and self-expression. Yet, they face challenges with color maintenance and damage worries. LiIBe's product, Hair Palette, aims to address these concerns by providing specialized shampoos formulated to support professional styling results at home. These products feature amino acid-based cleansing agents and intense moisturizing ingredients, ensuring long-lasting, vibrant colors that do not compromise hair health.

As the trend for bold colors continues, brands like LiIBe are pioneering solutions that align with the desires of younger generations, helping them maintain their colorful expressions with confidence and care in their everyday routines.
