Athleta Celebrates International Women’s Day with a Cold Plunge
On March 7, 2026, Athleta, a prominent brand under Gap Inc., will host a unique event to celebrate International Women’s Day. Under the theme of empowerment and community, this experience will be centered around the San Francisco Bay, inviting women from the Bay Area to participate in what they are calling the “Cold Plunge.” This event not only emphasizes physical courage but also aims to raise funds for local girls’ initiatives, specifically benefiting the organization Girls On The Run Bay Area.
In partnership with the female-led Ocean Beach Plunge Club, Athleta is bringing together a community of women for a morning of movement that includes a guided walk and a brisk dip in the icy waters of the bay. For every woman who joins, Athleta will donate $250 to Girls On the Run Bay Area, up to a total of $50,000. This initiative underscores Athleta's commitment to fostering confidence and strength in young girls by breaking down barriers to sports participation. Through this collaborative plunge, every participant will make a meaningful impact, turning their courage into funds that empower girls in the local community.
Erika Everett, Chief Marketing Officer at Athleta, stated, “This experience is about more than just the plunge. It’s a celebration of community strength, supporting future generations, and putting our values into action. Holding this event in San Francisco, our home, makes it even more special.”
