A Complex Installation Process

Installing the QL7000 projector was no simple task. The previous flat panel, weighing 1,800 pounds and measuring 12 feet in length, required a highly coordinated effort to remove, involving expert rigging and logistical planning. Jeff Mele, Chief Commercial Officer of Met Interactive, noted, “The project wasn’t just about placing a new projector; it involved intricate details from the removal of the old display to ensuring the new one was adequately mounted without disrupting the amphitheater’s unique structure.”

The QL7000 is ingeniously mounted to minimize disturbances from nearby traffic and environmental factors. This floating mechanism is designed to absorb vibrations, resulting in a quieter and more stable projection experience. Delauter emphasized the projector's impressive performance, stating, “Even with the projector directly above the audience, the noise levels are significantly lower compared to the old system.”

Advanced Technology for Diverse Needs

Key features of the Q-Series projectors, especially the QL7000, include their high brightness capabilities—boasting up to 10,000 Lumens of both color and white brightness. This technology, paired with 4K Display Technology, ensures exceptional clarity and vibrant colors that enhance viewing experiences. “Projection uses reflected light, which is much softer on the eyes compared to direct light from flat panels. This is essential in multi-use spaces like ours,” explained Greg Sherman, Chief Projectionist at Film at Lincoln Center.

The QL7000 also supports various input sources and content formats, making it versatile enough for the center’s wide array of programming. The WebGUI feature allows for remote adjustments of brightness and settings, crucial for responding quickly to changing lighting conditions during events.
