PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. — In an official announcement made on October 15, 2026, Langan Engineering and Environmental Services revealed that Ryan C. Linthicum will take over as CEO, effective January 1, 2027. This decision comes after a meticulous two-year succession planning initiative orchestrated by David T. Gockel, the current CEO and Executive Chair of Langan's Board of Managers.
Ryan Linthicum is not just a new face in leadership but a seasoned veteran who has dedicated over 30 years of his career to Langan. He began his journey in the firm's New Jersey headquarters working as a staff engineer and has climbed the corporate ladder to hold the position of Managing Principal, while also serving on both the Executive Committee and Board of Managers. Linthicum's extensive experience includes managing Langan’s technology strategy, where he has driven initiatives in artificial intelligence (AI) investment and service integration, further enhancing the firm’s national digital solutions practice.
Under Linthicum’s guidance, Langan has successfully launched three new offices in Washington, D.C., Arlington, and Richmond, Virginia. His leadership has been crucial for the company’s foray into federal markets, especially in collaboration with the State Department's Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations. His efforts have significantly contributed to the design processes for nearly 200 U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide. Linthicum is recognized for managing high-performing teams across various sectors, including mixed-use developments, commercial enterprises, resorts, cultural institutions, sports facilities, education, life sciences, and aviation projects.
In his announcement, Linthicum expressed, "I am honored and excited to assume the responsibility of becoming the third CEO in Langan’s history. I look forward to my new role and to working tirelessly with Dave, my partners, and Langan staff. Under my leadership, we will continue to deliver premier consulting services to our clients on projects that define and enhance how we live and work while contributing to communities across the globe." David T. Gockel, current CEO, affirmed his full support for Linthicum’s leadership, stating, "Ryan Linthicum has the complete backing of our executive team to steer Langan as we continue our journey as a national powerhouse and a magnet for talent.
