Accion Opportunity Fund Celebrated as Finalist for Humanitarian Action at the 6th Annual Anthem Awards

Accion Opportunity Fund Recognized in Anthem Awards 2026

Accion Opportunity Fund (AOF) has made headlines by being named a Finalist in the esteemed Campaign (Non-Profit), Humanitarian Action & Services category at the 6th Annual Anthem Awards. This accolade highlights AOF’s impactful campaign titled "Unlocking Opportunity Together," demonstrating the organization’s unwavering dedication to enhancing opportunities for small businesses across the United States.

About the Campaign

The "Unlocking Opportunity Together" campaign, a collaborative effort with Ripple, showcases the profound impact of their partnership, particularly marked by Ripple's historic contribution of $15 million to AOF in the form of its RLUSD stablecoin. This initiative has facilitated access to affordable lending, allowing small business owners to articulate the significant changes that these financial resources have brought to their ventures.

With the help of a dedicated website, engaging videos, social media outreach, and email campaigns, the campaign has effectively communicated success stories from small business owners who have benefited directly from AOF’s support. The results speak for themselves: the partnership has enabled 1,568 loans totaling over $104.2 million in financing and has helped generate nearly 3,943 jobs, thereby reinforcing the crucial role small businesses play in their communities.

Meredith Medlin Dooley, the VP of Partnerships and Programs at AOF, expressed her gratitude for this recognition, stating, "Our partnership with Ripple unlocked access to capital and education, and this campaign celebrated the incredible small business owners who anchor communities across the United States. This recognition belongs to them, and we're grateful to Ripple for helping us share their stories."

The Anthem Awards

Initiated by The Webby Awards in 2021, the Anthem Awards honor brands, nonprofits, and individuals that set a standard for positive impact globally. The award categories span critical areas such as belonging and inclusion, education and culture, health, human rights, humanitarian efforts, environmental sustainability, and technology. This year’s selection process featured an illustrious panel of judges from diverse sectors, underscoring the awards’ commitment to recognizing those who advocate for shared values in society.

Patricia McLoughlin, the General Manager of the Anthem Awards, praised the finalists, remarking on their roles in inspiring action and facilitating change despite challenging circumstances. "This year's finalists are truly setting the standard for how to advocate for a cause, inspire action, create impact, and overall make this world a better place," McLoughlin stated.

Community Engagement and Voting

As part of the continuation of the Anthem Awards festivities, the Anthem Community Voice initiative has launched in collaboration with NationBuilder, inviting supporters to celebrate the remarkable work of this year's finalists. From October 13 through October 29, individuals can cast their votes online at celebrate.anthemawards.com.

All finalists will compete for Gold, Silver, or Bronze Anthem Awards, with the winners slated to be revealed on November 5, 2026. This initiative not only highlights the achievements of the organizations involved but also encourages public awareness and participation in supporting meaningful social causes.

AOF’s Legacy

AOF has been at the forefront of championing the needs of underserved small business owners for over three decades. As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), the organization strives to provide not just loans, but a wide array of tools including free business advising and educational resources. Their commitment to enlarging paths for economic opportunities is exemplified in their outreach, fostering financial literacy, and empowering entrepreneurs in various communities.

In conclusion, Accion Opportunity Fund’s recognition as a finalist at the Anthem Awards further cements its status as a leader in social impact and economic development.
