Discover the World of Dinosaurs This Summer at Tamagawa Takashimaya S.C.
From August 15 to August 31, 2025, Tamagawa Takashimaya S.C. is thrilled to present the exciting event 'Dinosaur Image - The Great Dinosaur Encounter.' This series of activities will engage children and families in both fun and educational experiences centered around dinosaurs.
Daily Show and Workshops
One of the highlights will be the renowned 'Dinosaur Talk Show,' scheduled for August 16. Using engaging language and captivating dinosaur illustrations, this talk aims to unravel the mysteries of the dinosaur world, captivating audiences of all ages. This event promises to be both entertaining and informative, with no difficult jargon to limit understanding.
In addition to the talk show, attendees will be able to participate in four distinct workshops related to dinosaurs. These workshops include:
1.
Treasure Hunter Fossil Excavation Experience: Participants will use hammers and chisels to excavate real fossils embedded in a plate, encouraging a hands-on, archaeological approach to learning. Each participant will take home the fossils they uncover!
2.
Paint the Dinosaur: In this creative workshop, participants will paint white dinosaur figurines using acrylic water-based paints. This imaginative exercise allows them to envision the skin colors of dinosaurs yet to be discovered.
3.
Glass Garden - Dinosaur Version: Participants will create miniature gardens using glass bowls filled with natural materials like sand, stones, and air plants, placing dinosaur figurines to complete their prehistoric landscapes.
4.
Dinosaur Cardboard Crafts: This session is designed for younger children to engage in crafts without the use of scissors or glue, making it a safe and fun experience for all!
Each workshop is limited to 20 participants and requires prior registration on a first-come, first-served basis.
Fall Events and More
The excitement doesn’t stop with dinosaurs! In the fall, the center will offer cultural experiences rooted in Japanese traditions. On September 20, a special Gagaku (Japanese court music) concert titled 'Eternal Gagaku' will take place, showcasing a performance that dates back 1400 years, linked to the Shitenno-ji Temple's significant folk cultural heritage.
Additionally, from September 3-9, the 'Mingei Walk' will celebrate regional crafts in collaboration with local artisans. This initiative highlights the beauty and heritage of Japanese craftsmanship, promoting sustainable practices.
Also in September, the annual 'Sogetsu's Autumn 2025' exhibition will feature the art of Ikebana across four locations in the shopping center, providing visitors with the opportunity to experience the deep connection between nature and artistic expression.
