Celebrating 25 Years of the Lotus Bond

Fifteen years have passed since Macau was handed back to China in 1999, and to mark this significant anniversary, CCTV4 has produced a compelling five-part documentary titled "25 Years of the Lotus Bond: A Tale of Unity and Progress." This ambitious project spans over five thirty-minute episodes, showcasing the vibrant evolution of Macau as it thrives within the framework of the "one country, two systems" policy.

The series chronicles the region's rich journey through politics, economy, culture, society, and the living standards of its people. Each episode highlights various aspects of Macau’s development, emphasizing the strong ties between the region and the mainland. President Xi's dedication to ensuring the welfare of the people in Macau is notably highlighted, underlining the guidelines he has set for the governance of the region.

Each of the five episodes delves into different themes:
1. Love for the Motherland - This segment celebrates the emotional connection between Macau and the mainland, showcasing how the return has fostered a sense of belonging and unity among the residents.
2. Path to Diversification - This episode examines Macau’s economic evolution, particularly how the region has diversified its economy, moving from a solely gaming-centric model to embracing tourism, hospitality, and various service sectors.
3. Taste of Happiness - This part reflects on the societal impacts of the economic changes, highlighting improvements in the quality of life and public services for the residents.
4. Integrated City - Focused on urban development, this episode illustrates how infrastructure and planning have integrated Macau with its surrounding areas, promoting connectivity and accessibility.
5. Gateway to the Future - The final episode looks ahead, discussing future prospects and the aspirations of Macau in the larger context of China's future developments.

The series is enriched with a title song, "Gateway to the Future," which features collaboration among top musicians from both the mainland and Macau, wishing for a bright future for the region.

Starting from December 13, 2024, the documentary will air daily on CCTV-1, CCTV-13, and CCTV-4, allowing audiences to engage with the story of Macau's progress and unity.

This documentary not only serves as a reflection of the past but also inspires a shared vision for the future, reinforcing the bond between Macau and the mainland, encapsulating 25 years of stories, achievements, and aspirations.
