New Digital Sports Zone at Tokyo City Hall
On March 27, 2023, Tokyo's City Hall will open a new digital sports area, allowing residents to enjoy sports anytime. This innovative space includes a replica of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic climbing wall, providing visitors a thrilling experience of athleticism in terms of height and speed. With cutting-edge XR technology, the area hosts various engaging content such as the XR "TOKYO LEGACY XR MEMORIES," "Virtual Edo Marathon," "Cyber Boccia," and an "e-Skate Park," bringing sports to life in a vibrant digital format.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are more than just memories; they are a legacy to be experienced. This initiative, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the Games, aims to utilize startup XR content to create an interactive environment for everyone to engage with sports. Visitors are warmly invited to come and experience this exciting new area!

The XR experience recreates the climbing wall from the Tokyo 2020 Games, allowing participants to feel the intensity and scale of competition up close. As you embark on this journey through the history of the Tokyo 2020 Games, enjoy the immersive atmosphere of athletic competition firsthand.
Note: XR combines technologies like VR, AR, and MR to offer immersive experiences where reality and the digital world converge.
Overview of Digital Content in the Area
Participants can wear VR goggles and feel as if they are running through the streets of Edo. This unique blend of sports, culture, and digital experience provides an exhilarating way to explore Tokyo’s historical landmarks like Asakusa and Nihonbashi from a 360-degree perspective.

City Hall Exhibit Information
Inside the City Hall, visitors can find exhibitions of assets used during the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Games. You can also experience digital competitions and view valuable archives that are usually not open to the public.

- Opening Hours: Weekdays 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM; Weekends and Holidays 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Closed during year-end and New Year holidays, as well as during City Hall maintenance days.
- - Central Exhibition Area (2nd Floor)
Experience replicas of medals awarded to Tokyo 2020 medalists which are the same size and weight. Features displays for the upcoming Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships and the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics.
- Opening Hours: Same as above.
- - North Observatory Exhibition Area: Displays of the Olympic torch relay and other sports memorabilia.
- Opening Hours: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM; closed on certain days.
- - Connecting Corridor to the Assembly Building: Displaying rare sports equipment, including signed items from medalists.
- Opening Hours: Weekdays 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM; closed on weekends and holidays.
Stamp Rally across City Hall Exhibits
A stamp rally will take place during the spring break period (March 27 - April 5). Participants aged 18 and under who collect stamps from three exhibition spots featuring Miraitowa and Someity will receive a commemorative gift.
Note: The connecting corridor is not part of the rally.
