In an ambitious move towards enhancing satellite operational safety, Tokyo-based startup Orbitorus and Luxembourg’s Mission Space S.A. have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This partnership aims to address the evolving complexities faced by satellite operators, such as collision risks with space debris and the impacts of space weather.

As satellites play an increasingly vital role in various sectors, including communication, navigation, and data gathering, the need for robust risk intelligence has never been greater. Orbitorus focuses on providing predictions for potential collisions and analyzing the safety of satellite operations, while Mission Space specializes in space weather intelligence and radiation monitoring. Together, their combined expertise will pave the way for operational risk intelligence solutions tailored specifically for satellite operators.

The Path Forward



The MOU sets the stage for collaboration between the two companies, where they will integrate their respective technologies and knowledge. This joint effort will focus on predictive analytics and operational decision-making support, significantly improving the resilience and safety of satellite operations. By merging Orbitorus’s orbital intelligence with Mission Space’s environmental monitoring capabilities, both companies hope to provide comprehensive risk information that supports better decision-making processes.

David Chew, President and Representative Director of Orbitorus, shared his insights, stating, "The risks associated with orbital safety and space environments are closely linked to all satellite operations. Through our collaboration with Orbitorus, we anticipate delivering a more comprehensive understanding of operational conditions to satellite operators by combining collision prediction intelligence with real-time space environment insights."
