Kei Corporation Expands with Acquisition of Nobuhara Kougyou
On November 21, Kei Corporation, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced its acquisition of 100% shares of Nobuhara Kougyou, which is also based in Tokyo's Shinjuku district. This move makes the latter a wholly-owned subsidiary. As part of this transition, Kei’s CEO, Wataru Morita, will take over as the new CEO of Nobuhara Kougyou, while the company's former CEO, Yuko Shimamura, will join Kei Corporation’s board as a director.
Background to the Acquisition
Kei Corporation focuses on supporting business decluttering, dismantling, and recycling through its mission, "Turning the end of goods into the beginning of their value." The company offers comprehensive services encompassing the dismantling and removal of unnecessary items from offices, factories, and commercial spaces. Nurturing a reputation for dependable service, Kei Corporation partners with a diverse clientele that includes major manufacturers, public institutions, retail facilities, and solar power plants, making it a recognized player in the demolition and recycling industry across Japan.
In contrast, Nobuhara Kougyou boasts a long-standing history of 38 years in the demolition sector. The company has handled numerous large-scale projects, including the dismantling of commercial buildings and public facilities within the Tokyo metropolitan area. Renowned for its reliability, Nobuhara has established strong partnerships, evidenced by its work on significant projects like Shibuya PARCO, the Tokyo Marine headquarters, and the Toranomon Hospital, always showcasing their technical skill and agility in complex circumstances.
Combining the strengths of both companies aims to improve efficiency and service quality in dismantling buildings like factories and office structures. This synergy plays a crucial role in achieving Kei Corporation’s ambitious mid-term target of reaching 10 billion yen in annual sales by 2029.
By integrating Nobuhara’s demolition expertise with Kei's re-use and recycling capabilities, the two companies plan to deliver more convenient and effective services to customers.
Future synergies and developments
1.
Strengthening On-site Responsiveness: The operational structure and skilled workforce of Nobuhara will enhance the construction capabilities of Kei Corporation in the demolition and removal projects they undertake.
2.
Providing Comprehensive Dismantling to Recycling Services: Kei Corporation intends to reprocess and resell materials and scrap arising from demolition activities, contributing to cost reductions and minimizing environmental impact.
3.
Expansion into New Areas: Combining the technology and networks of both firms will facilitate entry into varied fields, including plant operations, renewable energy projects, and more commercial developments.
