Sunshine City Fun! FUN! Halloween
This October, Sunshine City in Ikebukuro brings families together for an exciting Halloween event titled "Sunshine City FUN! FUN! Halloween." Running from October 1st to October 31st, this event is a key part of the Sunshine City FAMILY project, aimed at creating a family-friendly environment that parents and children will love.
During the event, on selected dates, children who bring their own original candy boxes will receive a special treat bag in the “Trick or Treat Adventure.” There will also be a candy box-making workshop and fun carnival games throughout the event period. Additionally, families can explore the venue with the Halloween-themed mini book rally, "Find it! Funfun's Halloween Party," where they collect storybook pages scattered around the facility to complete their own mini book.
On Halloween day, October 31st, there will be a concert featuring artists in costumes, providing a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy music together. There will also be numerous photo spots throughout the venue, perfect for capturing those precious moments with your little ones.
Sunshine City is well-equipped with child-friendly facilities and services, ensuring a safe and delightful experience for families. We invite everyone, especially those with small children, to join this event that promises fun and security.
About the Sunshine City FAMILY Project
The Sunshine City FAMILY project aims to enhance the experience for families, making it more enjoyable, comfortable, and secure. Since 2015, Sunshine City has hosted Halloween events designed for families, continually improving facilities and services for guests with children. As Halloween trends in Japan shift towards more family-oriented celebrations, the Ikebukuro area is well-prepared to welcome visitors of all ages with initiatives such as the Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival.
Halloween Trends in Japan
In recent years, Halloween has become a family-oriented celebration in Japan, with participation rates recovering to pre-COVID levels. Particularly, families with children are increasingly engaging in Halloween festivities. Since the launch of the annual Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival in 2014, attendance has surged, with over 161,000 participants in the last event alone.
With local communities, including Toshima Ward and regional businesses, collaborating to create a welcoming environment for event-goers, Ikebukuro has cemented its reputation as a safe and enjoyable destination for Halloween cosplay events. This year, the festival will expand its offerings for families, further promoting Ikebukuro as a family-friendly Halloween destination.
