Saitama City Initiates Solar Power Equipment Procurement Support Project for Businesses

Introduction to the Solar Power Procurement Project

Enerbank Corporation has officially begun seeking participants for its collaborative solar power equipment procurement support project in Saitama City. This initiative, established in cooperation with the city, aims to help businesses reduce their electricity costs and transition towards decarbonized management practices. By adopting leasing or Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), businesses can start with no initial costs, leading to more affordable solar equipment installations through joint procurement.

The program utilizes Enerbank's digital solution, "SoraReco", which focuses on self-consumption solar power systems. By leveraging the expertise in collective purchasing, this project allows various corporations within Saitama City to lower their costs and minimize administrative burdens while implementing solar energy solutions. The main objective is to enable companies to install solar power systems affordably through economies of scale derived from collective procurement.

Overview of the Collaborative Procurement Project

The project is a collaborative effort between Enerbank and Saitama City to match enterprises interested in adopting solar systems with installation contractors. Interested businesses can opt for one of three acquisition methods: purchase, PPA, or leasing. They will receive proposals and estimates based on their preferred method and can take advantage of Enerbank's support in gathering quotes and comparing proposals.

Enerbank ensures that participating installation contractors undergo thorough pre-assessments regarding their construction records and management status, providing a reassuring environment for businesses contemplating adoption.

The Evolving Landscape of Solar Power

The dynamics surrounding solar power equipment installation have changed considerably. While the rapid decline in Feed-in Tariff (FIT) prices has led to a decrease in new installations for selling electricity, the focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investments and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has spurred a consistent rise in self-consumption solar systems on building rooftops. Moreover, with recent spikes in electricity prices, self-consumption solar power has gained attention as a viable means of cost control.

Historically, self-funded installation methods were the norm. However, recently there has been a shift toward third-party ownership models that eliminate upfront costs, exemplified by the TPO-PPA method and leasing options. This project aims to lower service costs by easing the selection process for businesses in search of the best contractors while also alleviating the proposal burdens on installation companies.

Features of the SoraReco Service

Due to rising electricity prices and the diversification of methods for implementing solar equipment such as PPA, businesses and government agencies are increasingly considering self-consumption solar setups. The demand has prompted an influx of newcomers, including PPA providers and EPC contractors, eager to meet the rising needs of consumers. In this challenging landscape, Enerbank's SoraReco service is designed to simplify the adoption process. It consolidates everything from selecting suitable suppliers to comparing quotes and simulating economic benefits, ensuring a hassle-free experience for businesses.

Key Components of SoraReco Services:

1. Filter suppliers that meet the specifications of the business facility and request quotes.
2. Organize and compare multiple received estimates.
3. Conduct simulations of the economic benefits of installation.
4. Provide support for supplier communications during site investigations.
5. Offer Q&A assistance for any inquiries.
