Oishii Farm Secures ¥24 Billion in Series C First Close



In a landmark achievement for sustainable agriculture, Oishii Farm Corporation, led by CEO Hiroki Koga, recently completed its Series C first close, successfully raising approximately ¥24 billion (around $180 million). This fundraising round brings Oishii Farm’s total capital raised to approximately ¥52.5 billion (about $400 million), marking a significant step towards achieving their ambitious vision of creating a ¥100 trillion industry based on innovative agricultural practices.

Oishii Farm has positioned itself at the forefront of open innovation in Japan by collaborating with leading companies across various sectors. This strategic move aims to leverage Japan’s strengths in areas such as seed production, IoT, water treatment, and robotics, thereby enhancing the synergy between agriculture and industry. The company’s mission is not only to provide delicious produce but also to develop sustainable agricultural models that can adapt to global challenges such as climate change and labor shortages.

Acknowledging Investments


The recent funding round saw participation from existing investors, including Sparks Asset Management, who acted as the lead investor, alongside contributions from several other partners and new investors. Additionally, Oishii Farm is enhancing its financial foundation with loans from multiple domestic financial institutions, including Mizuho Bank, as it expands its operations within Japan.

Progress and Future Prospects


Founded in 2017 in New Jersey, Oishii Farm has made significant strides in addressing agricultural and food security issues. Initially focusing on the challenging cultivation of strawberries, the company successfully achieved stable mass production in controlled environments, which has positioned it for rapid growth. By 2023, the cost of a pack of strawberries has decreased from $50 at its launch in 2018 to an impressive $10, owing to technological advancements and improved production efficiencies.
