Karsan Aims for Europe's Top 5 with Innovative Electric Vehicles and Autonomous Solutions

Karsan's Ambitious Vision for European Expansion

Karsan, an innovative brand in next-generation public transportation, has announced its strategy to ascend to one of the top five automakers in Europe within the next five years. The company witnessed an impressive 11% growth in turnover, achieving 330 million Euros in 2025, with electric vehicle sales contributing significantly to this milestone.

Growth Through Electric Mobility

In a time when the automotive industry is rapidly evolving towards sustainability, Karsan’s resolve to pivot towards electric transport has proven effective. The company generated a turnover of 220 million Euros solely from the sale of electric vehicles. With export growth reaching 43%, totaling 197 million Euros, it’s clear that Karsan's products are making their mark internationally.

Plans for Autonomous Transportation

As part of its ambitious growth strategy, Karsan plans to introduce driverless autonomous public transportation services in 2026. CEO Okan Baş states that their models, the e-JEST and e-ATAK, dominate their respective segments of the European market. Karsan aims to leverage Türkiye's status as a primary production hub for buses and minibuses, having supplied 80% of electric minibus and bus exports to Europe from 2019 to 2025.

Expansion into New Markets

Looking ahead, Karsan recognizes that simply enhancing their presence in established markets is not enough to meet their goals. In 2026, they will target entry into new northern European markets, specifically the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Germany. The company will also bolster its operations in Spain and Poland, where they have already begun establishing a footprint.

Increasing Fleet and Emphasis on Technology

Karsan is committed to significantly expanding its electric vehicle fleet in Europe with a target of over 2,800 units, which represents a 30% growth. Autonomous mobility stands out as a strategic focus, with Karsan working on deploying an 8-meter Autonomous e-ATAK in Europe and a 6-meter Autonomous e-JEST in the Americas. Notably, efforts are underway to remove the safety drivers from their vehicles, with fully driverless operations expected to start in Stavanger by Q3 2026.

Conclusion: One Step Ahead in Mobility

Karsan continues to carve out its role in the global shift towards electric and autonomous vehicles. With over 2,100 electric vehicles already contributing to public transport systems in 27 countries, the company's vision of 'One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility' positions it strategically for future success. As they triple down on their efforts in electric vehicle sales and autonomous technology, Karsan is not just aiming for the top five in Europe but is also committed to transforming public transport for years to come.
