Dual Solo Exhibitions of Emerging Artists

From July 18 to August 15, 2026, √K Contemporary, located in the vibrant Shinjuku district of Tokyo, will host a captivating joint exhibition featuring the works of two forefront artists: Akihiro Hasegawa and Rin Nakanishi. This dual exhibition will take place across the gallery's two floors, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience both individual perspectives and artistic expressions within a shared thematic framework.

Artists Overview

Akihiro Hasegawa is known for his abstract paintings that merge his signature use of acrylic panels and oil paint. His works explore the intersection of spiritual "light" and physical "light," drawing upon his Buddhist background and Eastern philosophy. Hasegawa, born in Mie Prefecture in 1997, has built a name for himself since his debut solo exhibition, clinching opportunities at events such as the FUJI TEXTILE WEEK 2025. In his latest creations, he elevates his intuition and senses to create visually poignant pieces that resonate deeply with themes of existence and consciousness.

On the other hand, Rin Nakanishi, born in 1999 in Shizuoka Prefecture, primarily delves into the realm of sculpture, utilizing various materials, notably incorporating elements of confectionery. Nakanishi's past works have often focused on animals, but this exhibition marks a return to her roots with human figures. Her sculptures, capturing the tactile and ephemeral nature of humanity, stimulate a sensory engagement with warmth and vulnerability. Nakanishi was awarded the Grand Prize at the MyNavi ART AWARD during the ARTISTS' FAIR KYOTO 2026, marking her first solo exhibition at √K Contemporary.

Second Floor - Rin Nakanishi:
Rin will present new artworks inspired by human figures, returning to a theme prevalent in her early practice. This time, she will employ chocolate as a medium to create representations of human faces and hands, provoking thoughts on human touch, warmth, and relationships despite their transient qualities.
