Zbar Brand and KABOOM! Celebrate Extended Partnership with Community Playground Build in Oakland
The Zbar brand has recently announced an extension of its collaboration with KABOOM!, a notable nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating playspace inequity. This partnership, which has been extended to run until 2028, aims to positively impact the lives of children by improving access to quality playgrounds across the nation. As part of this expansion, Zbar plans to contribute a total of $1.6 million.
To celebrate this extended partnership, a hands-on community playground build took place on July 15 at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Preschool in Oakland, California. This build involved over 100 volunteers from KABOOM!, the Zbar team, Mondelēz International, and local community members. Together, they transformed the school’s outdoor space into a vibrant and sustainable playspace, designed to foster nature-based play for children.
The new playscape is part of a broader initiative that includes creating 20 Nature Exploration Areas, aimed at providing up to 50,000 children with access to eco-friendly and engaging play environments. The design is deeply rooted in feedback from both students and educators and incorporates natural elements like trees and boulders, enhancing not just the aesthetic appeal but also the environmental resilience of the play area.
Valerie Van Arkel, the Director of Marketing for Zbar at Mondelēz International, spoke about the brand’s vision: “Kids are innately curious and adventurous. Our mission is to provide them with opportunities to explore the benefits of active play through quality outdoor spaces.
