Voigtländer Exhibition Vol. 5 Overview



The highly anticipated Voigtländer Exhibition Vol. 5 is set to take place from October 2 to October 22, 2025, at the renowned Kitamura Camera Store in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Organized by the acclaimed photographer Hideo Omura, this joint photography exhibition will present a collection of works from invited photographers as well as those selected through an open call.

Exhibition Details


  • - Exhibition Dates:
- First Period: October 2nd (Thursday) to October 11th (Saturday) - showcasing 60 works
- Second Period: October 13th (Monday) to October 22nd (Wednesday) - showcasing another 60 works
(The gallery will be closed on October 12th for installation.)
  • - Hours:
- Daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM
- Final day of the second period ends at 5:00 PM
  • - Venue:
- Basement Gallery, Kitamura Camera Store, Shinjuku

This exhibition is a unique platform for photographers who have captured images using Cosina's Voigtländer lenses, allowing them to showcase their vision and creativity. It is a rare opportunity to explore the diverse expressions stemming from the distinctive characteristics of these lenses.

Submission Details


The call for submissions begins on May 26, 2025, and runs until August 15, 2025. Artists are invited to present single photographs (series are not permitted) that capture the essence of their artistic pursuits. In total, 120 pieces will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Here are some key points regarding the submission:
- Eligibility:
- Open to those residing in Japan or those who have a contact address in Japan for piece return
- Works must be shot with Voigtländer lenses
- Theme:
- There is no specific theme, allowing freedom in expression
- Presentation Requirements:
- High-quality prints, matted, in 14x17 inches frames
- No drop-off of physical pieces allowed
- Participation Fee:
- ¥22,000 (including tax), which covers display fees, printing, matting, frame rental, and return shipping

Please note that the return of submitted works is limited to Japanese addresses and will be mailed approximately 2-3 weeks after the exhibition concludes. Artists will also have the option to sell their prints during the exhibition, with a percentage of the sales benefiting the artists, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of this event.

The exhibition will showcase works from celebrated figures in photography, including:
  • - Herbie Yamaguchi: Born in 1950 in Tokyo, Yamaguchi's illustrious career spans decades and various forms of artistic expression, including photography. His works often reflect themes of hope and humanity, capturing artists and everyday lives.
  • - tomosaki: A rising star born in 2000 from Fukui, tomosaki focuses on scenes evoking youth and storytelling. As a freelance photographer, he engages in diverse projects aimed at revitalizing local communities through his art.

About the Organizer


The exhibition is organized by Hideo Omura, a prominent figure in the photography community and the current president of the Japanese Photographic Arts School (NPI). Omura's passion for capturing the world through photographic lenses continues to be a guiding force in his initiatives.
