Celebrating Artistic Innovation: The 100th Anniversary Exhibition of Tokyo Institute of Technology Alumni Association

Tokyo Institute of Technology Alumni Association Centenary Exhibition

The Tokyo Institute of Technology, led by President Hiroaki Yoshino, is thrilled to announce an upcoming special exhibition titled "The Day Noise Becomes Talent." This celebratory event marks the 100th anniversary of its Alumni Association and will take place from August 21 to September 12, 2026, at the 6B01 Gallery in its Nakano Campus. Admission will be free to all visitors.

This exhibition features the works of 13 distinguished creators, all graduates of the university, whose contributions span a variety of artistic fields, including photography, film, television direction, interactive media, animation, gaming, and manga. Each of these talented individuals has leveraged their unique experiences, often involving unexpected challenges and encounters during their studies, to fuel their creative processes today.

The theme of the exhibition is particularly relevant in today’s world dominated by artificial intelligence, which excels in producing high-efficiency, seemingly correct outputs. The exhibition highlights the significance of "noise" – random and chaotic elements – that AI often overlooks. The participating artists reflect on their past, including failures and unanticipated twists in their educational journeys, to showcase how these seemingly meaningless experiences have become essential to their current artistic endeavors.
