A Transformative Grant for Women Entrepreneurs
In a significant move to empower female entrepreneurs, the Boundless Futures Foundation has awarded a $100,000 Her Village grant to Kiva, a notable nonprofit known for facilitating crowdfunded loans. This initiative aims to fuel the growth of women-founded businesses across the United States while addressing pressing social and environmental issues.
The Impact of the Grant
The grant will not only establish a revolving loan fund exclusively for U.S.-based female entrepreneurs but also supports social entrepreneurs who are keen on creating a blend of social and economic value through their businesses. With this funding, Kiva and Boundless Futures Foundation aim to break down the financial barriers that women in business often face.
Additionally, the funds will be used to sponsor an in-depth impact study. This study will evaluate the societal effects of women-led social enterprises and address the need for greater funding accessibility for these businesses.
Collaboration for Systemic Change
Soon Hagerty, the founder and president of Boundless Futures Foundation, emphasized the need for a more engaging approach that collaborates with Kiva to tackle systemic challenges faced by female founders. She noted that women entrepreneurs receive only 2% of venture capital funding in the U.S., a staggering statistic that highlights the hurdles in securing financial support.
“Many women-led social enterprises are at the forefront of creating solutions for issues ranging from climate change to economic inequality,” said Vishal George, CEO of Kiva. “Through our partnership with Boundless Futures Foundation, we hope to expand access to capital and prove the transformative potential of these remarkable entrepreneurs.”
Celebrating Women in Business
The announcement coincides with International Women’s Day, a celebration of women’s achievements and advocacy for gender equality. It underscores a strong commitment to fostering an environment where female entrepreneurs can thrive.
Boundless Futures Foundation has made notable strides since its inception in September 2023, having awarded a total of $685,000 in grants aimed at uplifting female founders and nonprofits focused on social good. Their mission revolves around providing financial support and leadership resources to aspiring female entrepreneurs aged 22 and older, empowering them to make a positive impact on society.
