Shanghai Electric Achieves Remarkable Growth in H1 2026
Shanghai Electric, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (SEHK: 02727) and Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE: 601727), has unveiled its preliminary results for the first half of 2026, showcasing impressive financial performance amidst a rapidly evolving energy landscape.
During this reporting period, the company achieved operational revenues of 63.332 billion yuan (approximately 9.17 billion USD), demonstrating a notable year-on-year increase of 16.6%. The net profit attributable to shareholders amounted to 970 million yuan (around 140.49 million USD), reflecting an 18.2% growth compared to the previous year. Furthermore, the total value of new orders received reached an impressive 100.39 billion yuan (about 14.54 billion USD), underlining the company’s strategic progress in energy transformation, advanced intelligent manufacturing, and international expansion.
Sustained Growth Across Business Pillars
Shanghai Electric's success can be attributed to robust performance in all three of its primary business sectors. The energy equipment segment generated revenues of 36.558 billion yuan (about 5.29 billion USD), marking a remarkable 21.4% increase thanks to the rise in wind energy and energy storage solutions. The industrial equipment segment produced revenues of 18.954 billion yuan (approximately 2.75 billion USD), achieving a 1.9% growth, strongly supported by advancements in digital and intelligent technologies in key areas such as machine tools, elevators, and industrial components. Additionally, the integrated services segment continued to thrive, reporting revenues of 10.862 billion yuan (roughly 1.57 billion USD), which represents a dramatic 31.5% rise.
New orders have significantly contributed to the company’s momentum, with the energy equipment sector alone securing 64.24 billion yuan (around 9.30 billion USD) in new contracts. This includes 12.39 billion yuan (approximately 1.79 billion USD) related to wind energy equipment, 11.44 billion yuan (about 1.66 billion USD) for energy storage equipment, 4.57 billion yuan (close to 661.91 million USD) for nuclear energy equipment, and 20.23 billion yuan (around 2.93 billion USD) for coal power equipment. The industrial equipment and integrated services sectors reported new orders valued at 21.25 billion yuan (about 3.08 billion USD) and 14.91 billion yuan (roughly 2.16 billion USD) respectively.
Expanding Internationally
In the first half of 2026, Shanghai Electric continued to bolster its international presence through key projects. Notably, the company secured a contract for the Palm Island Project Phase II in Dubai, where it will supply 700 high-end elevators and provide related services. The power transmission and distribution division made significant inroads into the European market, landing a contract to supply high-voltage and low-voltage switchgear for a hyperscale data center in Finland.
Moreover, Singapore's Stonehill Energy Storage project received a Phase II contract for a large-scale battery storage system (50 MW/150 MWh) in the UK, further consolidating Shanghai Electric's strategic positioning within Europe’s premium energy storage market.
