Dahua Technology Presents AIoT Innovations for Smarter Cities at SCEWC 2026
From November 3rd to 5th, 2026, Barcelona hosted the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), where Dahua Technology, a global leader in AIoT solutions, unveiled its latest advancements aimed at transforming urban environments through smart technologies. Under the theme "Together for an AI-Powered Future of Cities," Dahua's presentation highlighted practical applications designed to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability in urban areas.
Innovative Urban Safety Solutions
Dahua's security solutions integrate cameras and various Internet of Things (IoT) devices with analytical systems that leverage artificial intelligence (AI). This combination empowers municipalities to identify threats and dispatch emergency services more effectively. Notably, one application merges intelligent recognition, text and image search capabilities, and movement tracking with integrated communication systems and safety protocols, aiding in search-and-rescue operations for missing persons.
In traffic management, Dahua showcased cutting-edge technologies that monitor road usage, optimize traffic signals, enforce regulations, and detect incidents. A successful initiative in Campeche, Mexico, demonstrated tangible results; 34 intersections were optimized, resulting in improved traffic flow by 20% and reduced waiting times by 15% thanks to the implementation of seven coordinated green light phases.
Smart Mobility Enhancements
Dahua's smart mobility solutions are designed to elevate the safety and efficiency of public transport systems. Features include real-time vehicle monitoring, security alerts, and data integration. For instance, their bus transport system employs driver monitoring to identify risky behaviors, while GPS tracking, real-time video feeds, and passenger counting aid in fleet supervision and fare management.
Dahua’s urban management technologies utilize AI-based analytics along with multimodal information processing to effectively address urban challenges. These solutions help detect illegal street trading, discarded waste, missing manhole covers, flooded roads, obstructed fire routes, smoke, and fire incidents. Utilizing natural language queries and automation for notifications enables city workers to quickly identify issues and coordinate responses accordingly, ensuring a more effective urban governance framework.
Environmental Protection Initiatives
In addition, Dahua presented its solutions dedicated to environmental conservation, aimed at protecting natural resources and managing ecological conditions. For example, high-altitude thermal cameras provide 360-degree surveillance, capable of detecting potential fire hazards from distances of up to 10 kilometers. These systems work in concert with ground monitoring stations and drones to enhance fire detection and emergency response.
Furthermore, a specialized radar device paired with a PTZ camera tracks water levels in real-time, sending alerts when levels exceed designated thresholds, effectively managing water resource safety.
Insights from Thought Leaders
Beyond the exhibition, John Li, CEO of Dahua's global public sector division, participated in a high-profile panel discussing "Agent-Based AI Systems Capable of Action." He emphasized the proactive city management facilitated by AI-enhanced cameras and sensors, transitioning from reactive to proactive urban oversight. He also addressed essential themes of privacy, transparency, and accountability in deploying AI for societal benefits.
During a presentation titled “Building Resilient, Inclusive, and Sustainable Smart Cities through AIoT,” Max Huang, Director of Global Public Sector Projects, elaborated on how smart edge data processing and high-quality structured data form the foundation for deploying large AI models in real-world smart city applications. He advocated that IoT measurement devices serve as the
