Exploring the Realities of New Business and AI Utilization at IVS2025

On July 2, 2025, the Ready Crew Innovation Night took place as a side event during Japan's largest startup conference, IVS2025. Organized by Headline Asia, this conference serves as a major hub for next-generation entrepreneurs, and this year was particularly significant as our company participated as a diamond sponsor for the third consecutive year. The event ran from July 2 to 4, featuring multiple sessions and two side events. In this report, we will detail the discussions that transpired at the aforementioned panel session.

The side event brought together business leaders and entrepreneurs who are actively engaging in new business ventures, providing a rich platform for sharing practical experiences that deviate from conventional wisdom. The theme centered on the essentials for creating new businesses, leading to a heated discussion among participants.

Panel Participants:

  • - Mitsunori Minano (CTO of GROWTH VERSE Co., Ltd.)
  • - Yuki Nannari (Director and CTO of Algomatic Co., Ltd.)
  • - Fumiya Shinozuka (Engineering Manager of LayerXAI, LLM Division)
  • - Shoji Tanaka (CMO of Frontier Co., Ltd.) - Moderator

Opening Remarks

The event kicked off with moderator Shoji Tanaka sharing an unexpected personal anecdote about his previous work at the venue, FabCafe Kyoto, seven years ago. This set a relaxed tone for the discussions to follow, after which he introduced the event's theme and panelists. With no further ado, the conversation began.

Trends in AI Technology

Tanaka opened the discussion by asking, "What are the current trends in the societal implementation of AI that you are all observing? Is it image processing, textual analysis, or operational improvement?"

Minano responded by highlighting the significance of multimodal approaches, which refer to AI technologies that combine various types of data—text, images, audio, and video. Notably, he mentioned that while textual advancements have progressed over the past year, particularly in the last three months, the capabilities for generating and interpreting audio and video have surged impressively.

He elaborated on the advancements in conversational AI, indicating that while previous phone systems often sounded mechanical, there has been a substantial improvement, resulting in interactions that exhibit natural human-like nuances. He projects that this 2 trillion yen market will continue to evolve. Through marketing AI, the reliance on human involvement in digital marketing and Account-Based Marketing processes has significantly diminished, leading to greater efficiencies.

Tanaka inquired about the application of these advancements in business operations, to which Minano cited the phone industry as a prime example of optimizing customer engagement through AI.

Nannari shared his views, indicating that while progress has been made in text generation AI over the past two years, much of it has been confined to enhancing white-collar efficiency. He emphasized the need to focus on societal challenges, such as Japan's declining birthrate and labor shortages, advocating that future innovations should prioritize the physical realm.

The Future and Importance of Data

As the conversation shifted to future opportunities, Nannari emphasized the importance of data in developing AI robots that can adapt to various tasks. Not only deep learning advancements are reshaping how these robots are understood, but they are also empowering non-experts to enter the development landscape.

Shinozuka echoed these sentiments by discussing the rise of AI agents, emphasizing that the ability to learn from interactions and improve autonomously is rapidly solidifying. He noted that understanding what experiences AI agents can enhance has become increasingly accepted in society, paving the way for their broader implementation.

How Companies Can Leverage AI

Tanaka also posed a question to Shinozuka regarding the industries most interested in AI consultancy. He noted a general trend among financial sectors seeking AI solutions, particularly due to the data-driven nature of their operations and the industry-specific rules needing adherence.

Further discussions led to insights on why companies approach AI differently, especially regarding the creation of procedural guidance and evaluation of human resources in manufacturing contexts. Nannari provided examples where companies sought tailored support based on specific needs, indicating that market demands significantly vary based on operational characteristics.

Bridging AI Expertise with Business Objectives

The panel underscored that employers seek candidates who possess a dual capacity: deep operational knowledge complemented by technical implementation capabilities. Lowering the barrier to entry in this sector is crucial for expanding the talent pool.

Overall, the session encapsulated the vibrancy of ongoing AI discussions among business leaders. Attendees walked away with refreshing insights that could inform their future strategies involving innovative applications of AI technology.

Looking Ahead

The event saw a confluence of ideas from key players at the forefront of AI and new business initiatives. Participants were captivated by the discussions, which not only highlighted the transformative potential of AI but also stressed the importance of practical application in real-world scenarios.
