Eric Dane Partners with Target ALS to Combat ALS Through Fundraising Campaign

Eric Dane Partners with Target ALS for ALS Research

In a significant move for the ALS community, actor Eric Dane has teamed up with Target ALS to spearhead the "Ending ALS Starts With You" campaign. Launched to raise $500,000 for ALS research by the year-end deadline of December 31, this initiative aims to transform the landscape of living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a debilitating condition that severely affects motor functions.

Diagnosed with ALS in November 2024, Dane has emerged as a formidable advocate for ALS awareness and research. His personal battle with the disease serves as motivation not only for himself but also for countless individuals affected by ALS. In a recent episode of NBC's Brilliant Minds, he portrayed a character grappling with ALS, further underscoring the urgency of effective treatment options. The disease is notoriously aggressive, affecting motor neurons and leading to profound loss of movement capabilities, including speech and breathing, with a bleak average life expectancy post-diagnosis of only two to five years.

Despite the daunting nature of his diagnosis, Dane expressed a resolute determination: “I wake up every day and I'm immediately reminded that this is happening. It's not a dream. Still, I don't think this is the end of my story.” His words resonate as a beacon of hope for many who share his struggle.

The alliance with Target ALS seeks to shatter existing barriers within ALS research, aligning with Dane's personal journey and conviction. He emphasized his choice to partner with Target ALS, stating, “I chose to support Target ALS because I know that this organization is making the most headway towards developing effective treatments and I want to play my part to make that possible.” The founder of Target ALS, Dan Doctoroff, who also lives with ALS, echoed these sentiments—a shared vision forged through personal loss, with both men dedicated to combating the disease.
