Diagnosed with ALS in November 2024, Dane has emerged as a formidable advocate for ALS awareness and research. In a recent episode of NBC's Brilliant Minds, he portrayed a character grappling with ALS, further underscoring the urgency of effective treatment options. The disease is notoriously aggressive, affecting motor neurons and leading to profound loss of movement capabilities, including speech and breathing, with a bleak average life expectancy post-diagnosis of only two to five years.

Despite the daunting nature of his diagnosis, Dane expressed a resolute determination: “I wake up every day and I'm immediately reminded that this is happening. It's not a dream.
