SahajMobile's Pilot Program to Enhance Smartphone Access in Bangladesh

SahajMobile Launches a Groundbreaking Smartphone Access Pilot in Bangladesh

SahajMobile BD Limited, a key player in the smartphone financing sector in Bangladesh, has recently earned a significant nod from the Bangladesh Bank, permitting it to kick-start a supervised pilot initiative designed to enhance smartphone access among low-income populations. This pilot, set to span six months, focuses on delivering mobile technology to underserved communities, effectively connecting them to vital services, educational resources, and formal financial systems.

Background and Purpose of the Pilot

According to the formal no-objection letter issued on August 9, 2026, the pilot aims to assist individuals who do not currently own smartphones, thereby promoting digital inclusivity. The program will particularly target rural and underserved areas, with an emphasis on ensuring responsible credit access for participants.

In light of the rapid growth of mobile internet usage in Bangladesh, which recorded 113.5 million subscriptions as of February 2026, and the staggering BDT 2.47 trillion in mobile financial services transactions reported, the initiative recognizes an opportunity to close the substantial credit gap that exists within the burgeoning digital market.

CEO of HR Consortium USA, Inc., Rafsun Faiz expressed that this initiative will provide the necessary framework to facilitate customer engagement, track repayment behaviors, and strengthen financial controls.
