DP World's Beyond Boundaries Initiative Launched at Lord's with Sir James Anderson's Support

DP World Brings Global Support to Grassroots Cricket at Lord’s

In a remarkable initiative aimed at promoting grassroots cricket, DP World has officially launched its Beyond Boundaries program at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. This event was graced by the legend of cricket, Sir James Anderson, who underlined the significance of this global initiative during a gathering involving students and key representatives from DP World, the ICC, and the MCC Foundation.

A Milestone Event

Rashid Abdulla, DP World’s CEO for Europe, expressed the importance of this occasion, stating, “Bringing the Beyond Boundaries initiative to Europe for the first time is a significant achievement for DP World. Collaborating with the ICC and the MCC Foundation, and leveraging our supply chain solutions, we are enhancing access to sports by supporting grassroots facilities across the region.” This initiative aims to foster a deeper connection to cricket by making it more accessible to young players.

As part of the launch, DP World delivered 250 cricket kits packed in a repurposed container. This generous donation comes just ahead of the ICC World Test Championship finals, where DP World has been designated as the Global Logistics Partner. The kits, which consist of essential equipment including bats, pads, gloves, and helmets, are set to be distributed to schools throughout Great Britain in partnership with the MCC Foundation, marking a significant step towards supporting local cricket development.

Sir James Anderson conveyed his excitement about the initiative, stating, “It is fantastic to witness how support from an ICC partner extends to grassroots sports around the world, now reaching the UK just before the finals this week. Opportunity and access are crucial for the growth of cricket in the region, making DP World’s delivery of kits to schools a pivotal milestone.”

Expanding Opportunities for Young Players

The Beyond Boundaries initiative is designed to enrich young players’ experiences with cricket, and it will be further reinforced through a kit donation program during the Test match between South Africa and Australia. This program had already been active during pinnacle ICC tournaments since the launch of the initiative.

Anurag Dahiya, ICC Commercial Director, added, “Partnerships exhibit their true essence through the grassroots support demonstrated by DP World. The Beyond Boundaries Initiative has already transformed lives in New York, Namibia, and several other locations, and it is now making a substantial difference at the heart of cricket tradition.”

Angus Berry, COO of the MCC Foundation, emphasized their responsibility towards grassroots cricket, stating, “We have a duty to uphold the game at a foundational level, not just within this country but beyond. This collaboration with DP World arriving at Lord’s ahead of the ICC World Test Championship finals emphasizes our mutual commitment to creating access and opportunities for all young cricketers.”

A Global Impact in a Short Period

Since its inception, the Beyond Boundaries initiative has made notable strides, including the delivery of 12 reusable shipping containers, distribution of 3,000 cricket kits, engagement in programs across eight countries spanning four continents, and training over 15,000 youth to play cricket. This initiative stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts aimed at facilitating broader access to sports and fostering the development of young athletes. With such impactful contributions, DP World continues to redefine its commitment to corporate social responsibility and community engagement through sports.

As this program continues to grow, it holds the potential to inspire countless young athletes and transform the landscape of cricket, ensuring that the love for the game thrives in future generations.
