Datasea Reports Fiscal Year 2026 Results
Datasea Intelligent Technology Ltd. has recently announced its financial performance for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. The technology company, renowned for its focus on acoustic intelligence and AI-based digital solutions, witnessed remarkable improvements in gross profit and gross margin, even as its overall revenue decreased.
Financial Performance Highlights
In FY 2026, Datasea reported revenue of approximately $40.70 million, a reduction of 43.17% from $71.62 million in FY 2025. This revenue decline reflects the company's strategic decision to streamline certain lower-margin AI multimodal and other digital services. Among the more promising metrics, gross profit surged to approximately $4.16 million, marking a substantial 70.09% increase from the previous fiscal year's $2.44 million. Gross margin also saw an impressive rise, climbing to 10.21% from 3.41% in FY 2025.
The decrease in revenue was more than offset by a 47.2% reduction in the cost of revenues, enhancing the overall profitability of the company. Datasea's operating expenses were also trimmed by about 15%, down to $6.46 million, showcasing significant reductions in both selling and administrative expenses. R&D expenses soared by over 180% to $2.57 million, highlighting the company's commitment to technology and innovation despite lower immediate returns.
Management Insights
Zhixin Liu, the CEO of Datasea, expressed optimism regarding the company's recent performance, suggesting that revenue figures do not capture the entire picture of the company's resilience and adaptability.
