Exciting Hands-On Event for Girls on International Women's Day in Tokyo

Celebrate International Women’s Day with “Kirari☆Science Fes!”



On March 8, 2026, a groundbreaking hands-on event aimed at elementary and middle school girls will take place in Tokyo, organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and produced by Yoshimoto Kogyo. This event, titled “Kirari☆Science Fes! - Discover, Feel, and Create Your Passions!,” marks Tokyo's first initiative designed to promote women's participation in STEM fields to coincide with International Women's Day.

Scheduled from 13:30 to 16:30 at the Tokyo Innovation Base, this event promises a vibrant mix of activities including exciting stage performances by Yoshimoto entertainers and interactive tech experiences. Registration for participants is now open!

Event Program


13:30 - Discover Incredible Science!


Join science entertainer Mitsuki Iizuka for a hands-on science show that uncovers the wonders of food and everyday science. Fun performances will guide participants through exciting transformations right before their eyes, igniting curiosity and fostering a love for scientific inquiry, all alongside the comedic support of the Yoshimoto duo “Ganbarelu-ya.”

14:10 - Live Sound Discovery!


Experience an improvised live session with mathematician and jazz pianist Sachiko Nakashima, collaborating with the multicultural Mini KURAGE Band. Participants will visually discover sound waves using an 'oscilloscope'. A hands-on session with makeshift instruments made from everyday materials brings the audience together in fun musical experimentation alongside Ganbarelu-ya.

15:00 - Parent-Child Discussion on Supporting Opportunities


Educational economist Makiko Nakamura will discuss the impact of parental attitudes on children's potential development. Kei Yamazaki will also share insights from her own experience as a mother. This session aims to help parents understand how their involvement shapes their children’s opportunities and to discuss ways to encourage effective parenting strategies.

15:45 - Discovering Your Future!


A panel discussion with entrepreneurs and female engineering students will explore how to carve out unique career paths. Guests like Yuuka Sasaki, CEO of WellBe, and Ami Kawaguchi, founder of SJOY, will share their personal journeys and offer insights on pursuing passions. The session will also facilitate dialogue based on questions collected from the audience.

Hands-On Experience Zones


  • - Discovering the Secrets of Cells: Participate in a unique workshop where attendees can learn the science behind scalp D eyelash serum. Participants will make and take home their own custom serum.
  • - Heat and Aroma Science Lab: Discover the principles of steam heat using products like ‘Megurizumu,’ experiencing how steam warms the body effectively.
  • - Latest Motion Capture Challenge: Get hands-on with cutting-edge motion capture technology used in sports and medicine, allowing participants to recreate movements in real time.
  • - Fashion Tech Experience: Utilizing AR and AI tools, try on and discover personalized fashion suggestions via ZOZO’s technology including 'ZOZOMAT' and 'ZOZOGLASS'.
  • - Create Your Own Accessory Workshop: Utilizing colorful wiring and electronic components, participants can create unique accessories to take home.
