Unveiling the Emotion: '#WhatIfThisFeelingHadAName' Exhibition
Starting February 3rd, 2026, Shibuya will host the '#WhatIfThisFeelingHadAName' exhibition, an innovative event by the Kotoha project. Designed to explore the nuances of love through various languages, this exhibition will run until February 9th at the event space in Shibuya Modi.
The Kotoha Project
The Kotoha project is dedicated to creating entertainment through the lens of global languages. Operating under the concept of "Experimenting for a Richer World in a Century's Time," this initiative collaborates with the younger generation to foster new values. This unique exhibition aims to provide visitors an immersive experience in discovering expressions of love that are absent in the Japanese lexicon.
About the Exhibition
In our daily lives, we often find ourselves at a loss for the right words to express our feelings. Whether you’re trying to convey a message to someone special or simply grappling with your own emotions, the '#WhatIfThisFeelingHadAName' exhibition offers a solution by introducing you to fascinating words from around the world. The exhibition will offer various interactive experiences designed to help you find the perfect expression for your feelings.
Highlights of the Exhibition
- - Visitor Privilege: Gift Tags with Global Words
Attendees will encounter a unique 'envelope wall' featuring gift tags inscribed with words from various languages. Visitors can select and take home their chosen tag, which can be attached to Valentine’s gifts. This not only adds a special touch but also allows you to articulate feelings that may be difficult to express in person.
- - Immersive Experience: Short Film Screening
A short film centered on the now-extinct Yaghan language will grace the exhibition. Title "Mamihlapinatapai," meaning “the shared silence of two people who both desire to speak but do not,” this film beautifully encapsulates the sentiment of unexpressed feelings. The experience is enriched by an original fragrance that reflects the emotional states of the characters. This multi-sensory approach invites visitors to savor words like never before.
