I AM ALS Ignites a Powerful Campaign for ALS Awareness
In a transformative initiative aimed at elevating awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), I AM ALS has launched the
‘Every Flag Has a Story’ campaign. This campaign is designed to amplify the voices and experiences of individuals and families affected by ALS, pushing desperately needed visibility and urgency towards finding a cure.
Campaign Overview
The campaign's launch coincides with ALS Awareness Month, emphasizing thousands of personal narratives that resonate with the community's struggles and resilience. By harnessing the power of storytelling,
I AM ALS aims to galvanize public action and underscore the urgency of legislative support, particularly for the recently reintroduced
ACT for ALS legislation, which seeks to enhance access to treatments and expedite research initiatives.
At the heart of the campaign is a monumental
6,000 flag installation in Washington, D.C., symbolizing the newly diagnosed Americans battling ALS each year. The flags will serve as a poignant reminder of the journey faced by those with ALS, inviting the public to reflect on each story behind the flags.
Personalized Stories and Media Engagement
From
May 6-9, 2026, the organization will host its
5th Annual Community Gathering in Washington, D.C. On
May 7th, an emotional ceremony will be held where community members will pay homage to their loved ones affected by ALS.
In addition to the flags,
I AM ALS will showcase a new short film titled
“Ring Every Bell.” The film chronicles the advocacy journey of Eric Dane, a notable actor and beloved ambassador for the ALS community, who tragically passed away earlier this year. The film captures the strength of the ALS community as well as the implications of the ongoing advocacy work.
Call for Action
During this impactful month, the campaign invites everyone to participate actively—whether by sharing their personal stories or rallying support for the legislative efforts surrounding ACT for ALS. It encourages individuals to connect and engage collectively toward driving meaningful policy changes and advancing research efforts that could lead to critical treatments.
Upcoming Events
The film
“Ring Every Bell” is set to premiere at the
National Press Club on
May 6 at 7 p.m. ET, followed by a nationwide release on
May 18. Additionally, a ceremony will take place on
May 7, starting at
10 a.m. in front of the installation of flags adjacent to the Washington Monument.
This campaign represents not merely a call to action but a celebration of community, resilience, and hope in the face of adversity. As ALS continues to affect many lives, I AM ALS is committed to driving change through advocacy, awareness, and empowerment.
