Engage with Local Governance: Machida City High School Dialogue
On November 2, 2023, the
Machida City Council in Tokyo will host its
8th Annual Student and Council Member Dialogue. This initiative aims to engage local high school students in meaningful discussions with elected officials, encouraging them to consider their roles as future stakeholders in governance and public administration. By allowing students to converse directly with council members, the event aims to pique their interest in civic matters.
Last year's event saw participation from 46 enthusiastic students and garnered positive feedback, showcasing the community's eagerness to engage youth in local issues. This year's dialogue will focus on two core themes:
1.
How can we enhance Machida as a more appealing city?
2.
What are your thoughts on the future of Machida in 10 years?
Participants will have the opportunity to share their views and suggestions, fostering a platform for students to voice their opinions on important local topics.
The event will take place from
1:30 PM to 4 PM at the
Machida City Hall, located at 2-2-22 Morino, Machida, Tokyo. The council invites approximately 40 students residing or studying in Machida to participate in these discussions.
