Yili Group's Groundbreaking Global Innovation Vanguard Initiative Launches in Cambridge
Yili Group recently marked a significant milestone in the dairy industry by launching its Global Innovation Vanguard Initiative in Cambridge, United Kingdom. The initiative is centered around the theme "Gathering Global Wisdom, Driving a Healthier Future". This launch is a part of Yili's strategic vision to not only manufacture but also to foster collaborative research across the global dairy sector, thereby optimizing its value chain.
During the event, Yili formalized partnerships with notable organizations, including Springer Nature and the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) at the University of Cambridge. These collaborations will support an open-access R&D framework designed to address critical areas within the dairy sector.
The expansion beyond just manufacturing reflects Yili's commitment to propel collaborative research. Liu Chunxi, the Senior Executive President of Yili Group, emphasized the importance of synergy across the value chain, stating, "By embracing new opportunities and missions in the industry, Yili continually places consumer health at the forefront, elevating the global dairy sector to new heights."
At the event, Yili and the National Technology Innovation Center for the Dairy Industry of China (NTICD) introduced thirteen flagship projects touching on various aspects of the dairy field, ranging from livestock breeding and smart agriculture to precision nutrition, high-value functional ingredients, and sustainable packaging. He Jian, Director of NTICD and General Manager of Yili's Global Innovation Center, extended an invitation to research institutions and industry partners worldwide to collaboratively tackle these pioneering challenges.
In line with their growth strategy, Yili signed a memorandum with IfM to explore innovative industrial R&D models. Andy Neely, a member of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Professor of Manufacturing at Cambridge University, commented on this collaboration, stating, "It is fantastic that Yili is partnering with Cambridge, particularly with the Institute for Manufacturing, through the Open Innovation Forum. This partnership is about learning new ideas and innovating across different industries and organizations, and I am confident that both will greatly benefit from this dialogue."
Moreover, Yili's collaboration with Springer Nature entails the development of the 2026 Global Research White Paper on Breast Milk. Stephen Pincock, Executive Vice President of Impact Solutions at Springer Nature, highlighted the paper's relevance, which will outline the latest international innovative trends and showcase research achievements from leading institutions. Pincock noted that Yili's support reflects a strong commitment to the health of future generations.
In conjunction with these academic endeavors, Yili's Jinlingguan brand announced an update to its branding strategy focused on "Full Spectrum Nutrition and Maximum Freshness." Dr. Ignatius Szeto, Vice President of Yili Group, introduced a scientific research strategy called "Six in One" focused on absorption, protection, brain nutrition, gut health, bone health, and hypoallergenic properties.
These initiatives are backed by Yili's Global Innovation Ecosystem "15+1", which connects 15 regional centers with leading academic institutions worldwide. Reflecting on this long-term collaborative approach, Paul Moughan, a member of the Royal Society of New Zealand and Professor at Massey University, acknowledged Yili's leadership in the scientific sector, praising the company's transparency, integrity, and genuine spirit of collaboration.
The launch of the Global Innovation Vanguard Initiative sets a new standard in the dairy sector and showcases Yili's commitment to not only innovation but also its dedication to consumer health and sustainability.
