WHAT CAFE, an art gallery café operated by Terada Warehouse in Shinagawa, Tokyo, is set to host an exciting group exhibition titled
WHAT CAFE EXHIBITION vol.42: Framing Motion. This event will take place from June 27 (Friday) to July 8 (Tuesday), 2025. The exhibition will feature 16 emerging artists chosen by renowned art curator Hiromasa Noma, showcasing approximately 130 pieces of their work.
This exhibition serves as a follow-up to a successful event held in October 2023, where Noma's selection of artists drew significant acclaim. The upcoming exhibition emphasizes the concept of "motion" in the creative process, focusing on the internal fluctuations of the artists, their technical experiments, and cultural perspectives. Each artwork will explore the act of capturing and visualizing "motion" through various expressive methods and mediums. About Hiromasa Noma
Hiromasa Noma, born in 1979 in Aichi Prefecture, began his career in the apparel industry after graduating from school. He encountered contemporary art while working as a merchandiser, which piqued his interest and led him to become a freelance curator. He frequently collaborates with artists who focus on portrait works depicting figures, animals, and characters. Noma has organized numerous exhibitions and collaborations, aiming to convey the charm and world views of these artists. Currently, he manages multiple galleries and plans exhibitions in cafés, alongside managing individual artists, showcasing his diverse activities in the art world.
About WHAT CAFE
WHAT CAFE is a facility dedicated to showcasing and selling contemporary art by talented artists who shape the future of Japan’s art scene. It features a spacious and bright area of 800 square meters. By rotating all exhibits for each exhibition period, WHAT CAFE creates opportunities for numerous artists to present and sell their works, ensuring that visitors can consistently discover new art. The café also hosts workshops and events related to the exhibits, fostering interaction among art enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy meals and drinks surrounded by art, enhancing their overall experience.
