PowerX Receives a Major Order from Kurihara
PowerX Co., Ltd., a leading manufacturer of energy storage systems based in Tamano City, Okayama, has announced a significant order from Kurihara Co., Ltd., located in Osaka. The order consists of 16 units of the Mega Power 2500 storage system, totaling a capacity of 40.1 MWh, for a newly established substation in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Kurihara's new Ako power storage facility will be connected to the Kansai power grid. This innovative installation will charge during periods of surplus electricity and discharge during high-demand times, thus helping to stabilize the energy supply and demand balance. The facility is set to commence operations by the end of 2028.
The project has been selected for funding through Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry under the “FY 2027 Renewable Energy Introduction Expansion and Storage Battery Support Project,” highlighting the government's commitment to enhancing renewable energy infrastructure.
The Ako substation marks the third project for Kurihara utilizing PowerX's storage systems, following the successful operation of the Daigo substation in Ibaraki Prefecture, which began operations in February 2026, and the ongoing development of the Awaji Island substation in Hyogo.
With a robust track record in the power infrastructure sector, Kurihara aims to collaborate further with PowerX to contribute to Japan’s carbon neutrality goals.
