Discovering Wien Gin: A Taste of Austrian Artisan Craftsmanship in Japan

Wien Gin: A Journey of Flavor from Vienna to Japan

In June 2024, Wien Gin made its debut in Japan, introduced by S-Bruecke, a company specializing in the import and sale of Austrian wines led by CEO Tomoko Makino. Originating from the cultural heart of Austria, this craft gin has quickly captured the attention of social media users and high-end restaurants and bars, becoming a symbol of Viennese artistry in a bottle.

The Story Behind Wien Gin

Wien Gin hails from Kesselbrüder, a unique distillery established in 2012 by three friends: Thomas, Achim, and Florian. Their mission is rooted in a deep love for Vienna, a passion for gin, and a commitment to friendship. This handcrafted gin is not merely a drink but an experience designed to encapsulate Vienna's culture and aesthetic, presenting itself as a true work of art.

For over a decade, the Kesselbrüder team has focused all their passion on Wien Gin, resulting in not just gin but also a liqueur crafted with a meticulous botanical design that promotes sensory enjoyment. In total, Wien Gin has four unique products which have recently gained attention in the Japanese market.

The Essential Characteristics of Wien Gin

1. A Gin That Embodies Vienna’s Identity
Wien Gin is crafted with the intention of delivering a piece of Vienna's rich culture to the world. The bottle design reflects the city's artistic heritage, ensuring that each sip leaves a memorable experience. Unlike typical spirits, Wien Gin aims to be a keepsake from a visit to Vienna, capturing the city's essence in its flavors.

2. A Genuine Passion for Gin Crafting
The flagship product, simply named Wien Gin, took three years of trial and refinement to perfect. Carefully selected botanicals contribute to a clean, sophisticated flavor profile pleasing even to the most discerning palates. Already popular in Austria, the gin has begun to find its way to markets within the EU, the US, and Canada.

3. Recognized Excellence in Quality
The quality of Wien Gin has not gone unnoticed; it has garnered the prestigious 2024 'Brand of the Year' award from Falstaff magazine, showcasing its excellence on a European stage.
