The 'Meet the People' Series Event in Tokyo
In the heart of Tokyo, at the Ginza Niigata Information Center, an engaging series of events named
'THE NIIGATA: Meet the People' is ongoing, spotlighting the vibrant culture and stories of Niigata. This initiative has successfully hosted six self-organized events so far, each gathering enthusiastic attendees exceeding capacity, predominantly from the Tokyo metropolitan area.
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with participants expressing a desire to visit Niigata and appreciating how the events convey the region's culture and appeal through its people.

Volume 7 (September 18)
History of Sake - A Lecture with Yoshinokawa Sake
Join us for an enlightening session while sipping on sake from
Yoshinokawa, one of Japan's oldest breweries. The session will be led by Masayuki Yokomoto, who will share captivating stories about sake spanning from the Jomon period to the present day. Attendees will have the opportunity to savor Yoshinokawa’s sake while learning about its rich history in a casual, interactive setting.

Cushu Notebook Launch - Enjoying Niigata Sake & Noppe
In celebration of the release of the latest guidebook
'Cushu Notebook', which covers all 89 sake breweries in Niigata, editor Mariko Takahashi will discuss the allure of Niigata’s sake and local cuisine. Participants will experience the depth of Niigata’s sake culture through food pairings during the event.

Tamagawa Taifuku Rakugo Solo Performance
Watch contemporary rakugo artist Taifuku Tamagawa, hailing from Niigata, showcase an entertaining mix of classical and newly written stories, promising an engaging blend of humor and storytelling that attracts both laughter and heartfelt moments.

Piano and Singing Salon Concert
Enjoy a casual concert featuring an ensemble of three talented female graduates from Niigata University, performing classic and opera masterpieces. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy beautiful music in the comfort of Ginza.

Local Favorite: Matsunoi Brewery
This event will feature the Matsunoi Brewery, beloved by local residents. Guests will hear about brewery practices rooted in Niigata’s unique climate and geography while enjoying sake and meaningful conversations.

Bus Tour to Niigata's Natural Wonders
A first-of-its-kind day trip bus tour, departing from Ginza, is being organized in collaboration with the Tokamachi City Tourism Association and travel agencies. This tour offers participants a chance to meet local residents and explore the breathtaking
Kiyotsu Gorge.
Volume 13 (December 1)
ONIGIRI Meet-Up with Local Business Leaders
This inaugural networking event will gather business leaders from Niigata to converse with residents of the Tokyo area. It’s an excellent chance for individuals contemplating a move to the region to hear firsthand from influential local entrepreneurs.
