The Mynavi High School Dance Competition 2026 is gearing up for its Chubu qualifiers, taking place on January 31, 2026, at the Chita City Culture Center, Aichi. This exciting event aims to crown the best high school dance club in Japan, highlighting the incredible talents of students who dedicate their youth to dance.
The journey to the finals began on November 9, 2025, with the first preliminary competition held at the Seiwa Kogyo Nijiiro Hall in Saitama. Over the following months, a series of ten qualifying rounds will occur across various regions, including Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kansai, and Kyushu. High schools that excel in these preliminary events will earn the right to compete in the grand finale scheduled for April 2026, showcasing their performance skills on a national stage.

Meet the Judges
The panel of judges for this year’s competition features prominent figures in the dance community:
- - KENJI (PINOCCHIO): A leading figure in street dance, KENJI has been active in the dance scene since forming the dance team PINOCCHIO in 1992. His accomplishments include numerous wins in both domestic and international competitions. Today, he trains young dancers and serves as a judge and guest performer.
- - MASANARI TSUJI (NAKED GUNZ): A renowned artist with a strong background in BREAKIN’, MASANARI has consistently showcased his talents on global stages. His work blurs the lines between performing arts and visual art, emphasizing the potential of the human body in dance.
- - Yuki Shibuya (BarnBeat): Starting his dance journey at just three years old, Yuki has engaged in numerous dance genres and competitions throughout his life. He has made a name for himself on YouTube and worldwide as a dance educator, teaching students of various ages.
- - MIZUKI (Dione): Specializing in JAZZFUNK and Heels, MIZUKI is a well-respected instructor and choreographer from Nagoya. Her diverse experience includes performing for popular artists and guiding young dancers to national accolades.

About Mynavi High School Dance Competition 2026
Since its inception in 2015, the Mynavi High School Dance Competition has grown significantly, now in its 11th year. This competition is open to students currently enrolled in high schools and equivalent institutions. It aims to recognize and celebrate the best high school dance teams across Japan. The top teams from each qualifying round will compete in the final event, where the champion will be crowned.
In a significant development for this season, three additional spots will be added to the qualifying rounds, increasing the chances for teams to earn points toward final eligibility. Following the preliminaries, a final challenge will determine which teams will advance based on their accumulated points.
