The 24th Tokyo Hula Fest in Ikebukuro 2026
The 24th edition of the Tokyo Hula Fest will take place from June 5 to 7, 2026, in Ikebukuro, bringing together 166 teams and about 2,800 performers from across Japan. This vibrant event, which is a summer tradition, has been moved to June to protect participants and attendees from the scorching heat typically experienced in July.
With the theme, "Hula Winds from Ikebukuro," the festival promises a weekend filled with lively performances and cultural exchanges. The event kicks off with a pre-festival celebration on June 5, held at the Ikebukuro West Exit Park Global Ring. This will feature a special live performance by the renowned Hawaiian band, Kimi Ota and The Birds, along with live music from the organizing committee's band and a captivating hula and Tahitian dance show performed by local children, setting an exciting mood for the festivities.
Main Event Days
The main festival days on June 6 and 7 will showcase performances at four venues: the Ikebukuro West Exit Park Global Ring (the main venue), Sunshine City B1 Fountain Square, Nakai Ikebukuro Park, and the Tobu Department Store Rooftop Sky Deck on the 8th floor. Each participating team will display their unique hula dance performances, transforming Ikebukuro into a lively hub of hula culture.
Adding to the excitement, the festival will feature various programs, including a collective dance event titled "Let’s Dance Hula Together!" where all attendees are encouraged to join in. Additionally, food stalls will be offering Hawaiian goods and local delicacies from sister cities, providing a taste of Hawaiian culture.
Local Officials' Remarks
