MTB Challenge 2026 Kyoto Stage will take place at KUMIGAWA BASE, offering an unforgettable mountain bike racing experience for children and families. Organized by the MTB Challenge Executive Committee in collaboration with the Kumiyama Town, this event aims to promote cycling culture and encourage sports participation among the youth.
Event Overview
The MTB Challenge is designed primarily for elementary school students, providing a hands-on introduction to mountain bike racing. Participants will be guided through practical lessons, ensuring even those who have never raced before can enjoy the thrill of competition. The event promises to be both safe and enjoyable, allowing kids to immerse themselves in the excitement of biking.
Racing Categories
Participants can look forward to two main race formats:
1.
Kids Race: Aimed at elementary school students, this race will utilize a specially designed course tailored to their age group, featuring manageable laps for first-time racers.
2.
Endurance Race: Open to all ages, this race will test participants in a 60 or 90-minute cycling challenge, where individuals or teams can compete based on their abilities.
For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, the event will also include a
Pump Track Experience, allowing kids to navigate a fun course and learn to ride, even if they aren’t participating in the races.
Collaboration with the KUMI-GAWA PROJECT
This Kyoto stage is part of the
KUMI-GAWA PROJECT, an initiative by Kumiyama Town aimed at enhancing community engagement through waterfront development. The project emphasizes creating new activities and experiences along the river, inspired by community members who are passionate about using the waterways creatively.
